This song features my Strat set for the middle pickup and a Vibratone effect supplied by a Mustang III amp. I think it was a British 60s amp model. Yeah, there is also a Les Paul in the video (can't we all just get along?). :)

The rhythm track is actually just my looper pedal plugged into my mixer (also the Strat, but it almost sounds like an acoustic guitar). The lead tracks were recorded via the Mustang III's USB connection.

This is the first Strat I've owned that sounds good in all 5 switch positions. My previous one was the Highway One model, and I didn't much care for the middle and bridge positions on that one. I love the N3 noiseless pickups on this one.

The LP sounds almost like a viola.

Thanks StratMangler2. Can't believe I've never heard of it. Quite interesting. After scanning the artists that use them and seeing Explosions in the Sky, I have the Friday Night Lights theme stuck in my head.

JosephREllis, thanks for sharing your video. Good job, I enjoyed it and you've helped me learn something new.

Thanks, PicknGoodTime. Sorry I didn't reply sooner - I didn't get a notice anyone had replied to the post (I must have forgotten to check the notify box).

Yeah, EBows have been around for a long time. I've seen pictures of early models that appeared to be made of chrome and came with a leather pouch. Now they are plastic and come in a fake felt bag. Still a pretty cool gadget for about $100!

I've made a few other recordings with them over the years:

I found a picture of an expired ebay auction where someone sold one of the vintage chrome EBows with the leather holster:
