I turned up what appears to be a NOS 2011 American Standard. It has the stickers and etc. I have just never seen one locally this old still hanging on the wall.

Anyway the serial is US11290896 if anyone has a way to look up numbers Id really be thankful. Also what would be a good price on a 3 year old NOS American? Also anyone know what pickups they were using that year?

TIA

Hi 60Cycle, and welcome to the forum :!:

My 2012 American Standard has a "US11..." serial number. Not all American made Strats have the "US" prefix on the serial number. If I'm not mistaken, the "US" prefix came into being in the latter part of 2010. I have a 2010 FSR American Standard with an 8-digit serial number starting with 10 but no "US" prefix.

If you send an e-mail with the serial number of your Strat to the good folks at Fender Consummer Relations, they will send you a spec sheet. The address is: consumerrelations@fender.com

    HTH

    Cheers!
    BM

BM nailed it - Fender started using the "US + 2 digits for the year" in March/April of 2010 so these days USA Fender serial numbers change over about March of a given year. So you can say that a "US11xxxxxx" number would have been used from say March 2011 to March 2012.

Fender only used the plain "10" prefix from say January 2010 (when all the 2009 numbers were used up) until that March/April time when they changed to the "US10" prefix.

So it could have been made as late as March 2012. Just never stumbled across NOS that's been setting this long. What would be a good price on it if anyone would be guessing?

It wouldn't be unheard of - particularly since they changed to the CS pickups in March of 2012.

If it is brand new unsold then try to negotiate a reduced price - look for the upper end of the used range at maybe $850-$900. I think the MAP price in 2011 was $1,100 so definitely don't pay the current MAP price of $1,250.

Thanks for the help, I figure low 800 would make it well worth it. I have a preference for the TexMex pickups they were at one time using and whatevers in this one sounds close even though its hard to tell not running it through a familiar amp.
