My dad want to buy me a guitar as a graduation gift. I may choose the guitar.
Here's the problem: I feel that all of my guitars was enough for me. But yesterday I went to local music store and saw a left handed Highway strat. I wondering for a while, if I play that in normal position, I will be the normal-hand-Hendrix!

Now, give me your suggestion: better i ask my dad for that left handed HWY1 or, maybe you can recommend a good strat for me...

Try playing the lefty for a while. They take some getting used to.

A righty Highway One is a good idea. Of course, if he'll spring for more, shoot for a Custom Shop or an Eric Johnson model!

Not new, but you that'll get you damn close to a new EJ or VG.

That's a great gift! Don't rush it.......think long and hard. Then head down to the guitar store to give the one's you've narrowed down, a try. Not too many get a gift like that!

I think, VG and artist series out from my target because I dislike VG. And artist series enough one (I have a YJM strat)
I won't buy American deluxe and American standard but American Vintage looks pretty good
I need something new in my world of guitar.
I need something looks ELEGANT! (with only $1600)

or can I ask Fender custom shop to make a strat with my preference? :?

You wont get a special or CS guitar for that money. You can find an American Vintage in that price range and they are sweet. The American Vintage Hotrod is just a tad over $1600 but you might be able to haggle some. I just love the American Vintage Hotrod '57.

Try a Stratocaster 12 on for size! Different sound; WAY thick; really refreshing. Musiciansbuy.com has them for $699.00; or did. Lowest price around. That's where I got mine and you can see it here on the site; just look for "my gals" in the strat lounge. With that budget you can get a tooled vynal case that fender offers; you can see that here on the site too; western tooled case I think.

I
s your fretting hand R or L??

Flipping the guitar introduces an entirely different mathematical concept. Buy the guitar made for conventional play.
