Hi guys,

I'm thinking of switching out the pickups in my beloved HH 2003 strat because the humbuckers in it currently are quite noisy and feedbacky (I've had it professionally checked out, rewired, pot-cleaned, and shielded and the guy said he can't figure out what's wrong with it other than the pickups might me knackered).

I'm thinking of switching out the stock humbuckers for some of these Creamery 12-Pole Humbuckers because I'd quite like to be able to coil split it with the S-1 switch in the guitar (and get a better coil tap sound than with a normal humbucker).

However, recently I've been wanting to stick a Creamery Alt-88 Single Coil in between them so I can abuse the versatility of the S1 (and I think the "super switch" which it comes with as well, but I'm not sure).

What I'd like to be able to do is the following (given coils 1+2 - 3 - 4+5, where 1 is the bridge coil of the bridge humbucker and 5 is the neck coil of the neck humbucker):

S1 up (somewhat standard HH switching with the odd 2/4 positions):
1) Bridge Humbucker (1+2)
2) Bridge Humbucker and Middle Single Coil (1+2 + 3)
3) Bridge Humbucker and Neck Humbucker (1+2 + 4+5)
4) Middle Single Coil and Neck Humbucker (3 + 4+5)
5) Neck Humbucker (4+5)

S1 down (more of a standard Strat style switching):
1) Bridge Outer Coil (1)
2) Bridge Inner Coil and Middle Single Coil (2 + 3)
3) Middle Single Coil (3)
4) Middle Single Coil and Neck Inner Coil (3 + 4)
5) Neck Outer Coil (5)

I really want to make life easy for the guitar tech and also want to make sure that what I want can be done before I splash the cash. To that end, I've looked all over the internet for answers and I've found the following:

and

Image

but I'm not completely sure if either of the two are suitable for what I want. For one thing, neither makes any mention of any sort of switch besides the 5 way blade, and they only have one set of switching options.

Could someone please tell me if what I want to do is possible, and if the wiring diagrams are any good. If it isn't, what is the best way for me to abuse the S1 switch, with just 2 humbuckers or in HSH.

Thanks.

Sure it look it is not qualified :(

Any qualified tech could tell what is wrong and ....fix it

Well, considering just about all the local guitarists and bassists I know, including myself, my bandmates, and my guitar teacher, have had this guy work on everything from Boss pedals to a Custom Shop Tele, AND the fact that he's worked with The Pigeon Detectives on a few of their tours as a tech recently, I'd say he's quite qualified enough.

He didn't even charge me for his service because he couldn't fix what I asked him to fix. The pickup is humming despite being a humbucker and he said the problem is likely that the pickup has degraded due to extended use (the previous owner gigged this guitar HEAVILY).

Also, I was asking for advice about the wiring, not the pickups, cause I want to replace them anyway, regardless of if they're fixable or not.
