I bought one a few months ago and I love it.

I like the S-1 switching and the additional sounds it gives, but some people don't like it at all. So best if you go try one if you're seriously thinking of getting one.

I also have 1 the HSS model and I love it best guitar I ever owned. The S-1 switching I don't care much for but everyone is different, so yea go try 1 out first.

I love the Deluxe. It's a great guitar. I'd still have one if they didn't come out with the EJ.

Hello JesseFender,

I've got an older Deluxe, year 2000,
no s-1 switch and vintage noiseless

It's a super nice playing guitar

Cheers.

I have a 2005 SSS deluxe. Although a bit expensive, it's an amazing guitar. The SCN pickups sound great along with the S-1 switching system. You will not be disappointed at all, each part is of premium quality. The S-1 system really adds some very interesting sounds to the whole setup.

I have an '07 Am. Deluxe V-Neck and I love it. Plays great, sounds great. As far as the S-1 switching goes, I'd be fine without it. It gets muddy on any position past the 1st.

See the other thread about the Deluxe Vs. Standard.

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... php?t=9243

But yeah, I generally think it's worth the extra money for the upgrades the Deluxe offers.

I LOVE my Deluxe, I think it's really versatile, looks, feels and sounds AMAZING. That said, the new Standards have some really choice upgrades too. I'm REALLY happy with my Deluxe, totally stock; but I gotta admit there's a HUGE temptation to buy a new Standard and mod it up the wazoo.

I have an 06 model and love everything but the S-1 switching. I haven't found a tone I like at all using it.

I have the Special Mahogany HSS version of the American Deluxe (from Guitar Center). I REALLY like it! Plays wonderfully and sounds great. The neck pickup (S-1 off) is KILLER for Blues!

I frequently get a little carried away with the tremolo arm, yet in stays in tune nicely. Personally, I haven't found a whole lot of use for the S-1 switch, yet, but it's nice to have...kind of makes it sound like my Les Paul.

These guitars deserve high quality amps!

Tell ya what I did....The year they issued this guitar they did not offer a V-neck and it did not appear that they would. So I had the CS build me a Clapton, finished like an SRV, and dropped SCN pickups into it.

Nothing like having the best of all possible worlds.

I've spoken about this guitar before. Some year I'll try to figure out a way to post a photo of it.

Those are really nice finish options, preserving the wood in that fashion.
I don't recall those being offered the first year out.
