Um, contrary to what most people enjoy most about the Strats (the pickups near bridge), I think I dislike the tone near the bridge and enjoy the PU near the neck and mid more. That sharp, plucky, snappy country banjo like tone really gets to me as I do not like country music very much. Maybe should have gotten one with HB near the bridge? or perhaps maybe another Model that doesnt have that annoying tone? It really bothers me and I would like a good electric guitar by Fender with a soft or hard, but not penetrating like a banjo like tone. Any thoughts?

It's not so much the pickups as it is how it is wired, you could just switch the 2 tone's to TBX tone pots, ( Treble Bass Expander ) which will allow you to roll on/off the treble or the bass while not affecting the other....

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. Um, Im like a super noob, so I dont understand like a word you just said  Do you mean to tell me I can fix it without changing the pickups or upgrading them? So the solution is to open the guitar up and rewire the thing by a professional or myself? Lastly, could you possibly just mean turning the tone knobs on the guitar to adjust the tone? thanks friend!

Yes and No...

TBX tone pots are actually 2 tone pots, one stacked over the other, so @ the mid point of the dial is 0.. One direction affects your Bass, the opposite direction ( from zero ) affects the treble..
You can tremendously change your tone just by switching tone pots, volume pots and capacitors. It doesn't need to be a switch of pickups until one has experimented with just changing pots and caps...
Much cheaper...
On my 1st Stratopartster build, I used my MIM player SSS, these were the one's with the push/push switch which allowed you to mix neck and bridge....
Nevertheless I hated the way theses pups sounded and swapped them for SCN's ( in the original MIM translucent player Stratocaster ...
In the Stratopartster I hooked them up conventionally with TBX...
The output tone was drastically different, what I was actually wanting....

So try 1st to have a couple simple pots and caps switched. A good tech will know what to do if you explain what you have, don't like and would like to achieve....
Do this before they talk you into buying new pups...
If it is still not what you were looking for then consider a pup change, but you can also rewire the pups as they sit and also achieve different sound spectrum results....
There are threads on here ( the forum ) just dealing with that tech...
