Hello everyone,

I need help identifying the year for my Fender Stratocaster and I would appreciate anybody's help on this. The serial number explanation page doesn't help me at all and I just got more confused reading it.. All I could remember was my dad bought it when I was really young (I am 30yrs old now) and now I am trying to restore it by buying the right parts (bridge, pickups, etc..)

Here's a photo of the serial number (please note it is spray painted Gold but it is originally silver:
Serial number V008753:

Here's a pic of the headstock:

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,
Carl

Possibly a USA vintage series strat.
No pics that I can see.
Did you read the article on the fender website here
http://www.fender.com/en-NZ/support/art ... ct-dating/
You will have to remove the neck for a date.
Hope this helps :D

Fender places all 'V' serial numbers as either '82, '83 or '84 models.

To further narrow the production year, Fender suggests pulling the neck and checking the neck date, but cautions that this is only an approximation because this date corespoonds to the date the neck was produced, not when the guitar was assembled.

Fender states:
1982 saw the introduction of the U.S. Vintage Series instruments and “V”-prefix serial numbers. The only way to definitively date U.S. instruments with “V”-prefix serial numbers is to remove the neck and check the butt end of the neck heel for a production date, which may be stamped or written there.

The neck date will narrow your guitar's production date to within approx. 18-24 mos.

Posting a pic could be helpful in identifying what model you have.

Also be mindful that this time period was Fender-CBS, not today's Fender - FMIC.

cheers!
