Would someone please describe the evolution of the Jeff Beck Signature Strat neck thickness; specfically how many changes have taken place and when did they occur. In your opinion how is neck thickness associated with tone and susatin qualities?

Yes, they do. The new ones has a "normal neck" thickness.
The serie before was the ones with "half baseball bats" but I don't know the years excactly, I think in the 90's.

cheers :D

Here's a fun fact for ya.
Fender asked Jeff Beck if he wanted to partner up with them and make a signature strat with them in the 80's. Jeff agreed, and told Fender what he wanted the specs of the guitar to be. Fender overlooked his list of features and made some changes which Jeff didn't like, so he pulled out of the deal. Still, Fender released that strat under the name of Start Plus.
Later Jeff and Fender tried again and came out with, what is now the Jeff Beck signature Strat.

Ah-ha, yes, that's right! The Fender Book, page 60. And we've had at least a couple of different people on the Forum just in the last few days wanting to swap out the original Wilkinson roller nut on Strat Plus's for something better. And ZZdoc was saying that tuning stability was not good on that model and original owners would frequently add a Trem-Setter between the tremolo springs to try to improve matters. Still a nice looking guitar, though.

So there ya go...

Saw Jeff a couple of years back playing his current sig. No problems with that axe now, I can assure you!
