Personally I like the strat because the Les Pual can not give the same chirpy tone as the Strat! But if your looking for harder rock with distortion, then I would choose the Les Pual.

I own a strat and a les paul and the strat is my favorite. The contoured body and less weight make it much more comfortable to play. But I would not trade in your LP its always a good idea to have both for what ever type of music you want to play. 8)

Keep the Les Paul and buy a strat. I have 4 les pauls and 3 strats. My 3 strats each sound different from one another as well as my Les Pauls. My playing taste changes quite a lot and I like to have a choice of different guitars to cover my taste of the moment. Also, I try to not sell any guitars if I can help it. There are many I wish I had back.

I have a `69 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe in red sunburst and would never get rid of it. Both the Strat and LP are excellent in their own way. I just got the new American Standard for `08 last week. If I were you I would keep the LP and save for the Strat, you won`t be sorry.

Keep the paul and get a strat, the more tones you have on hand the better.

I love my Les Paul Standard. I love my Les Paul Custom. I love my Stratocasters. I love blondes, brunettes and redheads too. You don't have to chose. Love them all, cuz they are different.

Would appreciate some advice. I have a year old Les Paul and was considering either buying a new Strat or trading in my Gibson. The primary reason is the obscene weight of the Les Paul. It's too damn heavy. What other ammunition can you provide that would motivate me to switch to a Strat? Thanks very much.

Keep the LP and buy a Strat. I keep most of my equipment, but have parted with a few items. Almost every time I have gotten rid of an item I began to regret it at some point. I have a Strat, Tele, and a LP. I dont play the LP as often, but once in awhile I get it out and plug it into a Marshall amp, and then I remember why I keep it. A LP and a Strat are totally different in, looks, tone, and feel, but it is nice to have both when the need arises. Good luck in making your decision.

I can't choose, both great guitars, but personally I'd pick the Gibson Eds 1275.
