Wow! Thanks a lot for all your input! I honestly learned something from everyone since i'm a Strat rookie :D
Well, the sound is really great given the fact that I did not heard a lot but the general condition is my biggest concern. I guess that i will pass this one and maybe go for the music store option for a new one to try them out. I saw a lot on ebay that seems really interesting but without the possiblity of trying them and check them closely for damages, it's a roll of dice.
Well thanks again!
Stephan

What makes you think it's an american standard? It would have string trees, or holes for string trees if it was, and I don't see any evidence of that.

Good point. I didn't think it was a Strat Plus because the owner told the buyer that he swapped out the pickups.

Maybe it is a Strat Plus with some other pickups. Who knows. LRS nuts looks aftermarket.

The LSR nuts have a little piece to fill in the gap because the Wilkinson is wider. I don't see anything really wrong with the rosewood.

Hi Jason. I'm looking at the little flat area of rosewood behind the black LSR filler:

That's some scrappy chisel work, worthy of an eleven year-old at his very first high school woodwork class. The picture you posted of the nut area with the LSR removed shows how it should have been done.

Probably it is not a disaster functionally, and is merely the sort of minor cosmetic issue that hurts my eye but doesn't matter to most folks. Still, if someone is that poor with a chisel it makes you wonder how accurate the bottom of the shelf is heightwise, from bass to treble side. You only have to be a few thou off with the setting of a roller nut and it'll never play perfectly on open strings.

That would make me walk away from this purchase, or at the very least subject it to some mighty careful hands-on scrutiny as to the setting of that LSR.

Shame. It started out as a fine guitar...

Cheers - C

Early 1993 with LSR nut conversion kit as Fender moved to the LSR mid-1993. Schaller locking tuners were replaced with standard chrome Fender tuners. This often happens when the owner looses several of the locking tuner caps and can't find replacements with the correct thread design. Vintage White with the dreaded neck socket crack, which is in an unusual place as it is farther up on the socket than starting right at the L of body socket. This is not an American Stadard Strat, but is a Strat Plus. JasonSD knows his stuff....btw!

Yes they are better then the old ones probably because of better manufacturing.
