I'm new to the forum and was hoping to get some feedback related to a recently purchased MIM standard hss start. When it arrived I noticed that the high E string was higher than the other strings. After adjusting the saddle it was still higher than the others. Does this sound like a problem with the way the guitar was manufactured or is there some other adjustment I can make? I'm not very experienced with guitar set up so I hope this isn't a dumb question.

Sounds like the saddle needs to be lowered more.

It's hard to analyze your problem with that description and no pictures.

Try watching this video and see if an answer comes to mind.

There's a lot of help on the internet in the form of videos and articles on how to set up a Stratocaster.

One of Dan Erlewine's great books would be immensely helpful. I have several, try "Guitar Player Repair Guide". There are bound to be more issues coming up.

If you have a defect you should get it analyzed before the warranty period expires.

It's also possible that the nut is incorrectly slotted for your high E string. A trip to a competent luthier may be in order.

If the saddle is so low that it cannot go any further or is significantly lower than the low E string's saddle height... like Retro mentioned.. the prob sounds like the High E's nut slot is incorrectly filed. A decent Guitar Tech will remedy that rather quickly.
