Hello All...I am new here as well :D and I too certainly would appreciate any assistance or info you might be able to provide about my Highway One Strat. According to the Serial #S769747 digits on the back of the neck stock it indicated that it was a 1977 and that it was made at the Fullerton plant but of course it has not been apart to verify for certain and noted that some of you have mentioned that may NOT always be the case sometimes? and that the dates can be off as much as 2 years as well. The other strange thing is as you can see by pics because you ALL indicated you LOVE PICS  that it is also a Custom Shop 7 USA but I think I read somewhere that Fender did not officially start making Custom Shops until around 1989? so again this also is perplexing as the question would also be did Fender make Custom Shop Fenders at that plant unofficially? I noted that Rob@ Fender had mentioned he worked at this plant at one time? as well so I am hoping Rob if he is reading this (because you worked there) might know more about it. I have looked at what seems like a zillion pics of Strats lately LOL LOL but have not found one like the one I have YET nor any that have the # 7 carved on the top of the neck stock either. It is a heavier guitar for sure (another clue) and the Fender Logo seems appropriate as does the Fender tuners (for Custom Shop models) if it is from this era then it is in EXCELLENT condition except the guitar strings LOL but appears to NOT have been played very much or if at all either (PITY) so would this one be perhaps those that many have mentioned about those who own them are/were hoarding them? and of course since I cannot find one like the one I have I have no idea of the value of it either? so any comments about this would also be appreciated. Thanks EVERYONE and hope you enjoy seeing this one. Since I am a newbie I hope my slideshow works if it doesn't I will resend pics.

Fender started their Custom Shop in 1987.

Your guitar is a fake.

Not very subtle Chromeface but sadly true.

If it wasn't expensive and it plays well then perhaps not so bad.

A 1977 Custom Shop Highway One? Wow, I have never seen that before.

Sorry.

@Chromeface and @Al87..that is okay about the subtle by Chromeface Al   but at least it explains WHY? I could not find any pics Duh???? Thanks again so much for your assistance. It was fun searching though and learning more about Fenders since I am an oldie but a goodie ROCKER I am so BLESSED to have been born in the 50's so I have had the pleasure of seeing some of the greatest musicians and artists over the years and through the best eras as well who have played and continue to play them. I can't play myself  but love MUSIC but especially the guitar so I guess I remain a FAN to all of you who can with great appreciation whether you are known or unknown artists for the unknown ones are also STARS in their own right in my opinion. Thank you gentlemen you have been very kind to reply and I will keep on the site anyways as I have enjoyed learning more about them.

Also I was remiss in mentioning Fender themselves for the individuals who make them are also ARTISTS in their own right!!!!! On my bucket list is to visit Fender in California one day as I am pretty certain I may have attended concerts where those artists in fact used them before donating them to the museum. Now ain't that a trip :D
