Here's my report: UPS sucks. There, I said it.

I bought a lens from Tokyo with free shipping. It arrived in 3 working days. (Guaranteed delivery range did end May 2nd, I should note. So they gave themselves some leeway.) 3 days! And the US postal service was involved! But UPS? Not free and it only had to come from Washington. Can't do that on time. Bastards.

**end rant**

I guess it didn't come yet? :?

Anyway, it's good to let off a little steam or the pot boils over, or something.... :?:

UPS DOES deliver on Sat...so maybe today...good luck. :)

It arrived. It is lovely. The frets are nice enough. The rosewood fretboard is great. The paint is very nicely done.

It is settling in on one of my guitars while I wait for a new body to show up (and for me to finish).

The compound radius fretboard confuses and frightens me from a setup standpoint.

Congratulations, glad to hear it finally arrived and your initial qc comments. :D

Waiting for pics, though it's understood that a new body is coming.

As for the setup, I hadn't thought of that before. Seems like the Nut must follow the smaller radius (10?). Would you set the radius of the saddles to match the flattest radius (16?) of the fretboard or continue the flatter arc to the bridge and set the saddles at 20 or so? I imagine wherever it stops buzzing!

Not surprisingly there are a lot of opinions on the internet!

Really want to hear what works out most comfortably for you.

This is neat, a Compound Neck Radius Calculator.

Not sure if it will be helpful:

Set the radius of your bridge saddles according to the radius of the neck between the 20th and 21st fret.. As you fret those notes around the last few frets, the strings need to be at the same curvature at the bridge as they are when pressed onto the frets at the 19,20,21st.
That will give you a consistent feel in the string height when playing the higher registers..

You can source those radius gauges from Stew-Mac.. I also use them to shape a nut according to the neck radius at the 1st position...

Starting to get things adjusted. The neck is nice enough that I'll have to do much better work on the body I have arriving this week. But for now it plays well enough.

Love the Dominger Whiskeysippi pickups. They're jangly when split.

Finish on the neck is perfect. The rosewood fretboard is very nice. The frets are narrow but plenty tall. I like em.

I'm happier when the nut isn't cut oddly. It seems right, just cut to cover the strings.

Hitshot tuners. They come with a couple metal plates so that you can install them without drilling. Once I have everything in place I'll drill some pilot holes and screw them down. For now they work great.

That is one mighty loose neck pocket.

Yeah Baby, that's a good looking Neck, nice fretwork & I like the blue gleam on the black parts. :)

Like the H&K and Egnater Amps, too!

What's your thinking on the neck pocket fit? Wait and see when your body comes in :?:

How are you setting the string heights at the bridge?

The neck pocket fit is all on the body. As to the strings I just started to flatten out the bridge. Eyeballed it until it got close.

Well, everyone at the warmoth forum said they winged it and then checked with a guage to see what they did. Supposedly an 18" radius at the bridge is appropriate.

The problem with this neck is that the piano black finish really only goes with a piano black back. This is going to end up on my previous partscaster guitar, I think. That one HAS a piano black finish...

Right now I've used black dye on the ash body and sanded it back so that you can see the grain in the ash body. Looks pretty cool but it is definitely a worn look and not the tuxedo look of the neck.

So this body is going to have that neck...

That ought to look good and PLAY GREAT!

I guess that's why Maple necks have been around so long.

They're the Blue Jeans of the guitar neck world. hehe

No setup. Not even sure the neck is mounted quite straight yet. Looks lovely...

That's really beautiful! :o

Looks like it belongs in a ritzy kind of club, like where you wouldn't find the likes of me! Back when I went to any kind of club, I mean.
