Look, my post wasn't about the pickups, it was about whether the new Fender necks and bodies are the same as those on American Standard guitars. I gain nothing by lying to you about the pups. What's the point of bragging if no one here knows me personally. Whether you believe me or not makes no difference to me, and is entirely irrelevant to my question. I just asked about the quality of Fender's necks and bodies, and generally, I'm happy to talk about any topic that the nice people here at the forum find interesting.
Thanks everyone for your advice it is much appreciated!

The Necks and Bodies are the same as you would get when buying a MIM or a MIA Strat....
The lower priced neck and bodies are made in the Enseneda plant and the higher priced in Corona.

I have 4 builds in the works and they will all need necks, so that is part of the plan for me .....

I guess I'll be ordering a new fender body for a start, and then the neck. Thanks for helping!

I would (and did) get a warmoth body and a fender neck. I think the contoured heel is worth it.

What is the point of people coming on here and lying? It happens all the time, that's why folks are skeptical and want to see pics.

I love to see pics of vintage guitars and parts.

How do those old pups spec out, what are the date codes, how do they sound?

Do you want to figure out which modern pups are most like them?

Not only that, but people often think that they have something "vintage" only to find out that they were fooled when they present the evidence. Maybe the OP believes it, but the "friend" is FOS. Make a claim but unwilling to back it up, usually means BS.

Interestingly the pups and pick guard are currently residing in a Squier Affinity series Strat, until I find a better home for them. Must be one of the most desirable Affinity Squiers in the world at the moment! :)

I'm a bit curious as to how you were able to fit it all in an Affinity Squier, that is the electronics, but especially the 3/5 way switch.... Since Bullet and Affinity Start bodies are 1-5/8" thick instead of 1-3/4. That makes the control cavities shallow and both the Trem block and switch prevent the back plates from sitting flush to the body... :?:

But on the subject of the necks, make sure the profile of the neck you order is the a profile you like.... If you are playing an Affinity, a MIM or MIA neck will be thicker and wider.....
Food for Thought..... :?

The Squier was already modified to hold the pick guard and pups from a Mexican Strat, and the depth of the cavity was not the only problem there, that's how the guitar got almost completely destroyed. Anyway, I haven't played the Squier for a long time, I've been playing Am Std for years now, so I'm used to the neck, moreover I find that I would still prefer a neck that is bulkier than the Am Std, some sort of a fat C or U neck, I love the ones on 59 and 65 vintage Strats, and the ones on Jeff Beck Strats. OK, I'm not trying to prove anything because that was not the intention of this thread, but when I get a few free minutes at home I'll disassemble the pick guard and tell you everything you'd like to know about the pickups.

Here's another thought. If you can be satisfied with the limited inventory of necks and bodies being offered by Fender by all means. However, a vendor such as Warmoth will certainly afford you a wider variety of choice, perhaps at a better price. Or, consider one of the chops shops or eBay as another option.

I've been considering getting a custom Warmoth neck. Quartersawn, Clapton back contour, compound radius, 6105 frets, etc.

Mostly I'm unsure of the quality compared to a genuine Fender neck. Would I need to get it leveled and dressed from day one?

Have you ever played one?

Warmoth produces necks under license from Fender which permits them to reproduce the headstock shape. Warmoth parts have an excellent track record. Our Strat Plus guru Xhefri uses their bodies without hesitation for many of his mod-upgrades. You simply have to deal with the spiritual and emotional wasteland of not having a Fender logo on the guitar. The general consensus around here, with respect to embellishing those headstocks with blackmarket transfer decal logos had been :( :( :( :( :(

Thanks ZZDoc, Warmoth does have a good body reputation. I've read some Xhefri build threads with Warmoth bodies.

Come to think of it what happened with that nice Chambered Warmoth body build of his? Have to check back and see if I missed the finish of that one.

I don't really care about the logo, this neck would be for my "Relic-ed" build and it's highly unlikely anyone will be paying big bucks for my concept of a relic!

I like Med Jumbo frets & 9.5 radius (at least). Fender's Soft V back contour choices are few. I settled for a Jimmie Vaughan MIM and after refinishing and working a Fret End file real hard, it's pretty good, but I want more.

Even though I just installed a new Tusq XL Aged Ivory Nut on it.

I should start a new thread, see if anyone can relate a personal experience on Warmoth Necks.

Thanks again,

-Dan

Go to Warmoth's website and 'browze around.' You'll get an idea of what's available, cost, and how you go about ordering the part.

I'd be trying to buy the original body and neck from your friend. It really needs to be in the hands of someone with respect.

Warmoth does make some nice stuff, but I would like all this to be made out of Fender parts. The thing that I would like to do the most is get the American Vintage 59 body in Sonic Blue and John Mayer Signature neck, because it's a 60s style neck but it has a 9.5 radius. I could get this on Stratosphere's ebay store, but the cost of shipping to Europe, plus tax makes it too expensive.

There's no way he would sell any wooden part of the guitar, he would just sell the hardware. He inherited the Strat from his father, who bought it used in Germany, in Düsseldorf if I remember correctly, in 1975-76. The guitar is from 1966, and it has a large headstock, but it doesn't have "Stratocaster" written in huge letters, so it is a CBS era guitar, but the body contours are still very slim and pronounced, not like some of the later CBS starts. I like large headstocks to have those huge letters though! :) Although, I much prefer the smaller headstock!
