Thanks for the the cudos. Nothing more than FMIC caprice in terms of how they and their vendors alloted the guitars. If I hadn't taken the 'let me see approach' to the Sam Ash down the road, I'd never have learned it was there. I wouldn't have bothered with the purchase without the neck plate. My opening comments in this thread pretty much express how I feel about those kinds of things. In fact, the guitar case on the commemorative model has a classier interior. My guess is that they wanted to stick with a more vintage vibe for the repro.

I know having one of the 1 of 54 is probably nothing more than a novelty, but I would sure like to have one. I saw one of the 1,954 made here locally. Extremely nice fit and finish and very lightweight. Very nice guitar.

Thanks for the cudos. It's everything Carlos Santana wanted in an amp.

OK so I had to read this four times before I got 'wrapped' as opposed to warped.
Well done Doc!

ZZDoc, really nice Strat! Unfortunately, you don´t find them easily over here. And one of the first 54...impossible. :|

And what a great amp, hope they will make a head version, too.

Enjoy!!

Thanks for the cudos. Find yourself a copy of the Jan 2014 issue of Guitar Player. Based on that, it's unlikely there will be a head version of this amp. However, knowing Randall Smith, I would not rule out his incorporating some of the tweaks they did to this Carlos Santana repro into future products. The one thing which I expect will never happen is building an amp you don't have to be an athlete to lift. This nice, compact open-backed unit weighs 55 lbs.

Also notable is that the Commemorative case is physically smaller that the typical G&G cases, both in thickness and width (length is the same). I didn't notice it at first until I stacked the case next to my others.

Bet they used one of their "Pro" model cases for that lot. I wonder if they could make a good case for doing so?

 Been using your laughing gas on yourself?

I have one of the Pro Series cases, and they are just a bit wider and thicker than the G&G. The commemorative case seems to be unique in size, more compact.

This post is starting to remind me of an old Friends of Distinction song, especially the lyric fragment:

(Grazin' in the grass is a gas, baby, can you dig it)

Everything here is so clear, you can see it
And everything here is so real, you can feel it
And it's real, so real, so real, so real, so real, so real

Was that song released the year after N2 O came into widespread use?

...or Lewis Carroll's quote may be more appropriate: Take care of the Sense(s) and the Sounds will take care of themselves.

That'll do 'er!
