I had bought this neck on ebay recently and is supposed to have med jumbo frets and I thought med jumbo frets were larger,At least one's I've seen on some Mexican strats,And they feel smaller as well as I am touching a lot of fretboard with no spring or bounce when you have larger frets,It is a nice neck but I feel like I'm playing small frets. If someone could look at the photos and and give me your opinion.

Looks like maybe a neck from a Deluxe Roadhouse Strat. The frets appear smaller than medium jumbo but could just be the photo making them look smaller. It's hard to say for sure from the photo. If it is a Deluxe Roadhouse neck they should be medium jumbos. But to answer your question, no they don't look like medium jumbo frets.

Yes it is from a 2013 Mex Deluxe Roadhouse Strat.

Those guitars come with medium jumbo fret wire from the factory. But those do appear smaller. I would take the neck to a shop and compare the frets side by side with another neck with medium jumbos and see how they compare. That neck could've had a re-fret.

Neck was brand new when I got it,Wouldn't it seem crazy to refret a new neck?

That's my observation as well. Could be some kind of optical illusion though.

Greatest thing about the seller is he takes photos of different necks all at the same angles so if you look at this neck from a New Fender Mex standard,You can compare the two.

Comparing the photo from the Mexican Standard, they look to be the same size. And no probably not a re-fret. As to why they feel small it could be the finish on the neck. Sometimes when the polyurethane on a fret board is thick, it will take away from the fret height/size. Have you ever noticed that medium jumbos on a rosewood neck seem to feel a touch bigger than on a maple neck with a thick polyurethane or nitro finish?

Yes, on maple fingerboards Fender installs the frets first and then sprays on the finish. Spraying is still hand-done, not by robots, so there can be significant variation in how deeply the frets are buried.

Also, Fender levels and crowns the frets after the neck is finished. Again hand-done, so depending on how unlevel the frets are to begin with and how aggressive the worker is feeling, sometimes a lot of height is taken off.

Understandable.

Hard to tell from pictures, but you have the guitar in hand to do some measuring.

If you've got, or can borrow, a digital caliper you can satisfy your curiosity pretty easily.

If you want a scalloped neck feel, then you've got your work cut out for you.

Here's the Fender Tech Talk article:
http://www.fender.com/news/fret-sizes/

Fender specs are:
6100: Jumbo. The largest fret wire available (.110″ x .055″).
6130: Medium jumbo (.106″ x .036″).

On the Warmoth Custom Neck Builder page,
http://www.warmoth.com/pages/CustomNeck.aspx?style=1,
scroll down to the fret sizes and click on info.

They describe (all measurements in fractions of an inch) Med Jumbo as .106 w x .036 h and a Jumbo as .103 w x .046 h.

Good luck with your build and post pictures for us.
