hello,

i am not satisfied with either Schaller or Dunlop strap locks.

i tried installing strap locks on an old Squier Jazz Bass and since the screws were of different size it ended up wearing out the tread of the wood hence making the strap lock useless! This happened to both Schaller and Dunlop strap locks!

i also tried purchasing a locking strap from planet waves which required no modification. However, when i tried it on my new American Standard Stratocaster 2008, i found that the stock strap pegs on my guitar was much to large to fit on the locking strap from planet waves?!

please, anyone with suggestions?

I use Schaller Strap locks and have no trouble with them.
Also I use flat rubber rings from beer bottles with bow lock.
The holes fits perfect, put the strap on the guitar and the the rubber ring.

Check it out :D

I have the Schaller strap locks, but they came standard with my guitar. Because of that, I've had no problems with different screw sizes, etc. Mine are much better, due to the fact that my other guitars are not locking. Even though my other guitars have standard lugs (or whatever those are called), I've yet to have an "accident" (knock on wood).

That's right - Grolsch bottle tops fit just right! Or, if you must spend a couple of bucks, the Lokstrap System does pretty much the same thing, but looks like you paid for it...

There is a trick to getting them to work when the screw sizes are different. I have used this trick for years and have no problems whatsoever with it.

Get a round wooden tooth pick, cut off the point from one end. Stick that end in the screw hole, mark it and cut it at the mark, now repeat that so that the toothpick pieces fill the hole fairly tight. Pull the toothpick pieces out. Put a drop or two of good ol' Elmer's Wood Glue in the hole then put the toothpick pieces back in. Let it sit over night. Install the straplocks.
