53Magnatone...just a thought, why not go with Klusons? They are available. I have my popcorn ready for this build. Really looking forward to this one. I have played a 56 Mary Kaye on a couple occasions (friend had it but didn't like it much, go figure!) and that V neck on it and that finish were simple one of the greatest guitars I have every played!

Get busy!

The 2nd post of tuners are what I plan to use and.... Yes... Those are Kluson's ...

Yes .... Well that has happened to me also on other threads... To post a question.... look it up and Ah... OK....

Anyway...It doesn't seem that I can order a vintage V neck from Fender.... So that being the case and the critical part is that all parts be Fender... I may have to order the more common C profile..
Oh well a bit of modernization cannot be too bad...

What about a Classic 50's neck that is used...maybe Stratosphere has something? Again just a thought.

If you have to go with a "C" though still not a bad choice...but the V is my favorite...but alas you're not building it for me...are you? I have a birthday coming up!

Strat-o-sphere/Reliable Fender...question whether you need to go that route? Is the Fender logo a must? There's http://www.edenhaus.com aka www.bhefner.com They're Fender licensed as is Warmoth.

Well Played.... But No ...
I did rebuild a Squier for Jennifer's 10 year old son.... Although I'm afraid at this point Minecraft is the predominant interest... ( How I despise mine craft )....

There's usually some nice Fender MIJ 54 or 57 style necks on ebay, but I just check and there doesn't seem to be much on there at the moment, but maybe by the time you're ready there will be.

Did you want opinions? I think body number one would look better with the white blonde finish.

Yes ... I opened this thread up for suggestions. I don't have hands on experience with the MK Stratocaster, so input from those who are knowledgeable is welcome.

Another thought. I'm often a bit skeptical about the veracity of some color photographs. There's appears to be a bit more 'blue' in your sample which makes me wonder if the true color was closer to what 'orville' envisions.

Nice Build thread and a big +1 on a separate category for the most entertaining of topics.

I definitely don't qualify as knowledgeable on MK models but I am opinionated! :D

I agree on body number one, having the grain project towards the neck is so much cooler than seeming to shoot out the butt end!

On my last build I wanted a neck with a soft V back and vintage tuners. I wound up refinishing a NOS Jimmie Vaughan neck and using Gotoh SD 510 locking/staggered tuners (available in gold). JAParts, their North American distributors are great as well.

The neck profile is very comfortable, just a little less full than my Dec. '03 (v2) Dlx Strat. I like locking/staggered tuners and the Gotoh are a high end product which include adapter bushings if you have modern 10mm tuner holes.

That's my $0.02 worth. 8)

^^ ... Nice but for this the JV sig would not work . I'm trying to stay as much as possible with the 1950's vintage, so locking / staggered tuners won't work....
Speaking of Gotoh's, I had retrofitted Gotoh's mini delta's 410 tuners on both of my L'arrivee acoustics, 21 to 1 ratio.. Those I would consider for another build as they are also offered as inline...

I Googled Mary Kaye Stratocaster Images and that photo i uploaded was the best for me...
I have only seen one MK in a shop and it was gone when I returned to really check it out...
It's definitely not a blueish tint, more of an eggshell opaque...
