I just picked up a 2005 American Deluxe with a screw-in tremolo with white handle like the Standard. Did Fender make some like this?

Everything else checks out (SCN pickups, S1 switching, serial #, badge, etc.).

Thanks!

- Mark

Hi there the answer is no.
The saddles should be shiny and not satin like the standard had as well.
I presume the body is marked correctly is the right colour for that year and has the contoured heel.
Send the serial (which should be DZ5xxxxx) to consumerrelations@fender.com and they may be able to tell you the colour your strat should be etc associated with that serial.
How about some photos?
:D

The bar should be a pop in type.

The tip on the end is no indicator - I have fitted a tip to the arm of my 2011 Deluxe Strat because I prefer things that way. The tip came off a bar from a Mexican Strat that is no longer used (the bar that is).

That's my experience also. It's easy to fit a tip to the arm and many do. It's somehow more Fendery that way.

Still, Mtperry85, if you're worried about your guitar's authenticity you can send the serial number to Consumer Relations for verification, as jimmy_james suggested, or just post some nice detailed photos here on this thread and folks will be happy to give a pretty reliable verdict on the instrument. We like looking at pictures! :)

All part of the service and fun of the Forum.

Cheers - C

I'd never thought of it like that that, but I suppose you're right
I prefer the feel of the bar with the tip fitted.

Thanks! I sent an e-mail to the address above. The saddles are shiny and it also has a contoured heel. There's a chance that the original tremolo bar was lost, but I can see some threads down inside the hole and the tremolo bar I have seems to fit... although it is a bit snug even when barely screwed in. It won't just swing freely without a little effort.

I'd post some pics, but I don't have a photo sharing account and don't see any easy way to attach pics straight from my computer. Am I missing something?

The fit and finish of the guitar is perfect.

Cheers,
Mark

The block on a Deluxe has a grub screw below the baseplate for adjusting arm tightness of fit.
There's more than a tiny chance that the original bar has been lost and the wrong one used instead.

Get yourself the correct pop in arm - I can see the top adjustment screw from the rear view of the bridge

http://www.fender.com/store/tremolo-arm ... rm-chrome/

Nice couple of selfies in amongst the photos
I can see from the rear view of the bridge that the posts of the tremolo are not set correctly - the post is slightly higher on the bass side.
Your guitar could probably do with a decent setup - don't adjust the bridge posts with the bridge under full spring/string tension, as you'll likely as not damage the knife edges on the front of the tremolo baseplate.

Yep nice strat so thanks for sharing.
Deluxe bridge and as stratmangler suggests all you need is a new arm.
The grub screws allow you to adjust fit and tension of the bar.
Maybe the thread you see is the small clip ...be careful not to break this with that wrong arm :D

Thanks ya'll! I know it needs a setup... it's been collecting dust in a pawn shop for quite awhile. I just got it on Friday, and plan on taking it into my tech on Monday.

My local music store even has the correct tremolo arm and cream pickup cap in stock. I think it was meant to be

Hi again Mtperry85: thanks for the pix, and regards to the IT guru. Aside from the trem arm issue it looks like a very nice 2005 Am Deluxe. I see nothing to worry about there at all. Looks totally kosher to my eyes. A nice catch, and hopefully it was a bargain too?

Enjoy that tasty Strat. :)

Cheers - C

So you just got the wrong arm. I was going to say that I had your pop-in trem. My 2005 American Series came with the wrong part installed! (I bought it new from a GC.) It came with the correct screw-in trem bar, but I quickly discovered that it wouldn't! So I hunted down a pop-in bar and I am happy.

The weird thing is that the screw-in bar does seem to screw into the hole, so I'm wondering if the actual trem block got switched out by the previous owner. I'll leave it to my tech to take everything apart and give me the diagnosis. I'm a bit too heavy-handed and impatient to work on something this pretty.

...so maybe I did get your entire tremolo assembly!
