Will you hear the difference ? I guess not .

A/B test with same guitar ; same wood , pickups , setting ..... Maybe you can hear, not sure .

Just buy a good guitar with the tone you like .

The two point stays in tune better.

Right up to the point at which the posts and their sockets start to gall against one another due to improperly annealed steel. Then the guitar will never stay in tune.

Only issue I ever had with 2 point trems is a little bit of metal would chip away from the bridge side where it touches the post, and then the bridge would be at an angle with one side a little more forward then the other.

Is this when you float? I'm running it solid against the body with locking tuners and haven't had any problems.

Yes.

And the erosive process accelerates coincident with heavy tremolo use.

I only float my floyd roses I dont float my stock Fender because I want to be able to tune to drop tunings on it.
I did however float that Blade Runner and wow that thing is amazing it looks stock it sounds awesome and stayed in tune.
I loved it and not if but when I buy another strat it will be an American Special and I will replace the trem and tuners immediatly.

I've been buying guitars with the two point bridges exclusively for the past 25 years (since 1989) and have not owned a 6-screw bridge since I sold the last one some time in the mid 90s. I feel the post system is superior in smoothness of movement and the consistency of returning to neutral still in tune. I have never experienced any galling or chipping of the bridge plate at the point of contact with the posts. Or anywhere else for that matter. Looking at the pivot pins themselves, the colour of them has always lead me to believe they must be hardened but I have no data on that point. I think I will look into that just for the sake of curiosity. I admit I'm not the guy who does a lot of shredder style dive bombs or heavy yanks. Rather, I use my floated bridges the way Leo intended; to give a gentle and musical vibrato to held notes or chords. In my case, mostly for chords as I will usually shake a held single note with my left hand.

I have heard people comment about the two point bridges wearing at the pivots but it has never been my experience just like I often hear of LSR balls deforming but that has also never been my experience. The vast majority of my guitar playing friends bring their guitars to me when they have problems and I have not seen either of those conditions on any of their guitars either. Not saying it can't happen. Just saying I've never seen it.

Take that for whatever you think it's worth.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I know what he is talking about I have seen it personally and seen people post pictures. I dont float and use locking tuners with a standard nut. Im sort of a Van Halen type whammy guy so the wear does not affect me as it rests on the body. On my highway 1 I actually put a American Standard body and an American Deluxe Tremolo with locking tuners on it which is my favorite over my 3 strats for tone and playability. I cant down tune my floating floyds.
