Relax. It isn't so far-fetched that there are some pieces of alder in the world that are less attractive for transparent guitar finishes.

There are 2 photos of the first. Sorry I didn't post them sooner but I didn't have a photobucket. I Didn't take any pics of the second. It was a real shame too because the wood grain on the first was beautiful if not for the split lines in the wood

Looks like a bad planing job. Sure, the poly will fill it in, but it won't look good.
If it were a $200 Squier or $500 MIM, I could accept it, but for something with a price north of $1500, second grade should not pass QA, in my opinion. It should have been stopped before it was painted.

stratele52 that pic you linked is exactly what the second one looked like. And Arth1 hit the nail right on the head. With a $1500 guitar there is no way in hell I'm going to let that slide

No one blames you -- that looks simply terrible.

Hopefully the third time's a charm.

That someone let a guitar like that pass QC is unforgiveable!
It's an American Deluxe Strat for goodness' sake, supposed to be one step up from the standard model, and the timber quality and finishing just ain't up to snuff.
I'm not surprised you're unhappy with it.
In the bad old days they'd have at least had the decency to respray it black.

I hope it's third time lucky for you.
