Hello, I was wondering what color pickguard would look best on my strat guitar. It is arctic white. It looks like this, http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/attachm ... -lores.jpg

Also, how would I clean my maple neck? Would Lemon Oil work?

I also have a Fender Mustang 1 V2 amp. Only a few days old. I was wondering, does anybody have suggestions for a rock tone, kind of like a Bon Jovi or even a Rage Against The Machine tone?

Lemon oil and a tooth brush to clean the gunk away from the edges of the frets will work fine. Just make sure to wipe off any excess. Any standard guitar polish will work fine for the back of the neck and the rest of the guitar.

Choosing a pick guard is a matter of personal taste and what looks good to me might look ugly to you. That said .... if it was my guitar I'd prolly look for something that went well with the fretboard to give the body a little contrast to attract the eye. As it sits now it looks kinda bland and boring to me. That's just my own opinion, though. In the end, the only person you have to please is yourself.

Black or tortoise shell would make the body stand out.

Black might be a little too intense with the body color. Tortoise-shell would coordinate well, as would copper moto-swirl.

Black Pearl might work well, failing that Tortoiseshell.

G'day Packers12,
I had a pearl p/g on my white Strat for a few years.

Image

I eventually changed it back for the sake of originality, but looking back at the pics, it looked pretty cool.
Goodonya ...Mark.

Arctic white would look great with lime green. It has that awesome vintage look.

Well, whaddaya know....
Somebody finally showed me a picture of a mint green pick guard that didn't make me wanna throw up. I actually works fairly well on that colour of guitar. Just goes to show, no colour is ALL bad.

Stick with white or off-white IMO.

A mint green would go good with a rosewood wood fingerboard, but not with maple.

Just use a damp cloth to clean a maple neck. The grain is sealed, so the oil wouldn't soak in.

Not only that, but lemon oil might cloud the poly coating. Or worse, if the sealing isn't perfect on the sides where the frets are, some oil might soak in and discolor the maple.

Whenever changing strings, wax it like you wax the rest of the guitar. A good carnuba car wax works well, and is a heck of a lot cheaper than the same stuff rebranded as PRS or Fender and sold in tiny bottles.

Oh, BTW, packers12, you wouldn't happen to be Aaron Rodgers, would you?

If so, I'd think you could probably afford a better amp (check out Dumble).
