Well I thought I'd provide an update. After five or six gigs I don't really like the feel of my satinish fret board :(

So back home tonight and a broken string has caused need for a restring so out with my auto glym polish and the fret board is back to a fairly glossy/shiny finish. Not as good as it was but like a glossy satin finish.

Thanks for sharing that Fretboard adventure. :)

If you find that the polish wears off too frequently, you might try fine sanding then spraying a Urethane finish on it.

I had to refinish my Jimmie Vaughan maple board due to dust trapped in the finish. Never should have gotten through Fender Mexico QC like that.

The result though was very pretty good. Getting the finish off the frets was a bit of work and would really be difficult if you waited and let it dry several weeks or longer.

I used Gloss on the headstock and satin on the fretboard.

I love the look of a yellow gloss tinted headstock and a white-ish satin finished maple fretboard :D
