For me personally, have to agree that the MIM are NOT as good as the USA guitars.
They're not bad.... but they're not great either. The best Stratocasters I've played are USA strats. Period...
The build quality is better, the pickups and hardware are better, the finishes are better, they play better and they sound better.
Agree that for people who are of "Hobby Player" status.. yeah, a Mexi will do... but when you make your living with your guitar(s)... You play a high quality instrument(s) like a USA Startocaster... because they cut the mustard. When your income depends on it... It's not snobbery or cork sniffing... it's a reality... You get kind of "Hyper Sensitive" to the quality of the instruments you play... They MUST be VERY GOOD... not just good enough.

That my friend was poetry in motion.

That's what you feel is required, you can't speaking for all hobbyists and pros. The musician I mentioned also earns all his living playing. He's had heaps of $3-5k guitars over the years. He gigs his MIM tele most of the time. Is it better, probably not, but he doesn't see it as any compromise.

Gary Clarke Jnr - Epiphones
Jeff Healy - Squiers

They played what worked for them too. You'll rarely see known pros playing such things I guess, but most of them will get gear for free too.

No need to be buried w/ your favorite guitar. I like to think when we cross through the gates we will receive a custom shop strat and w/ the snap of a finger we can change the color, pup's, neck style, fret size, etc. However, even though it's Heaven we still won't be able to make the dang thing sound like SRV.

Lower-priced guitars simply just got better. Nowadays, there's a whole plethora of quality guitars at very affordable price ranges.

Just because you save up thousands of dollars for an American-made guitar doesn't mean you will always get quality. (I'm sure most of us have heard all the complaints against Gibson)
Not all American guitars are great quality, just as not all imports are garbage.

If someone wants to save up for a guitar that they truly want, then they will! But monetary value has never defined sentimental value.

Why is there so much arrogance for American-made guitars? A good axe is a good axe, simple as that.

I never had any problems with any of my gibsons or fenders and I never had to save thousands to get them.

Well that's good for you! However, not everyone is so fortunate.

I dont see how anyone could get a lemon. You can try it out at the store or if you internet order you have 30 days.

Well, we would not accept a bad apple (or, depending on what was wrong, we would simply fix it).
But what about Johnny Sophomore who buys his first guitar, with no experience to judge it?

I really don't think QA should be left to the customer. Not only because it is wasteful, but because not all customers are experts. We all started out pretty ignorant, and I guess not all of us had experts that we could ask.

Not at all I just think Mexican strats dont stand in the same league or even field as American Strats.
