All have names, but the one I believe has my deceased Brother's mojo is the "10 year old". I purchased this strat the year he passed, and the day it came home I took it apart looked at the butt stamp and it was his birthday 10 AUG.
I'm like whoa!. I've thought about selling it many times, came VERY close on one occasion. All I know is everytime I've thought of selling it, and I kid you not with what I'm about to say, I get some of the best sound out of it. The damn things plays as if it's knows I'm thinking of selling it, and gives me that "no way can you sell me vibe". Maybe it's mental, or emotional (he was my only one), but I'm not in the position to question.......just believe. By the way it's named "Lil Bro' ".

That's a cool story! What a special guitar...

Thanks! Wifey is afraid of it

Well, my wifey is jelous of mine (Tess is the wife, Gladys is the Strat)... so I think you are better off... Ha!

^^^^ No doubt. They fail to realize that that little piece of wood-n-wire takes us places that they may not be able to.......emotionally anyway.

No thread jack, just thinking about my best friend!

Never named a guitar. They are the red Strat, White Strat, Yellow Strat, the Dot, so on and so on.

I guess I just keep the birth names. If I gave them a new name, they might not respond.

I have named my:

50th Anniversary Am Dlx - Sammiecaster (after one of my cats)
'84-'87 MIJ Contemporary - What Is It? (or Manna for short)
40th Anniversary (limited run of 1954) - Lincoln
VG Strat - remains unnamed

Of course, I have names for my other guitars too.

My first guitar (a very cheap les paul copy by keiper) was called Brian, because I love Brian May... My "new" guitar, a fender strat has no name, although I thought of calling her "Layla" at first...

I named my first bass blueford. It was an ibanez so it dosnt really deserve a name.

A friend of mine is bugging me to name my Stratocaster. She claims that all great musicians have named their instrument: Blackie, Lucille, Frankenstein, etc. But I've never been the kind of person to name inanimate objects. So I'm curious: Did you name yours?

Quick note: EVH did not name his guitar Frankenstein. He calls it "baby". That name was given by the fans.

I thought the same thing about great axe slingers and since I'm great (at least in my mind and with my friends) I decided to name my Yellow and Green American Deluxe Fat Strat "Ducky" since it's the colors of the University of Oregon and I live there.

I just came across Ducky one day at the Seattle GC with a sticker price of under $500. It quacked at me and said, "Take me home!" I did - my first (and so far only) Fender and Ducky's replaced my Paul and SG as my main axe - and they don't have names :)
