A friend of mine is bugging me to name my Stratocaster. She claims that all great musicians have named their instrument: Blackie, Lucille, Frankenstein, etc. But I've never been the kind of person to name inanimate objects. So I'm curious: Did you name yours?

I was trying to name my guitar, but really to be good that's got to be a woman's name, imho, since I go to work and she sings. Haven't got one yet. Right now, my guitar is just "the guitar."

Hmm I'm not sure, I like the names Natasha, or Nikkala, I should really decide. She needs a name!

I'd like the idea of naming my guitar in a name that suits where it was made, so for like a japanese model it'd be like Mizuki, if it was mexican it'd be Juanita and American, well... what's the most American name I can think of... Charlene. Full Metal Jacket anyone?

I have named my guitar after a few months of having my fender strat and I named it after Stevie Ray Vaughan because stevie ray only played one guitar eventhough he had several others he only played one giutar on stage and thats how I'm I only like to play the guitar I have because it just feels more comfortalbe with me to play my guitar than playing some other guitar that just doesn't fit me so I named my fender strat Stevie Ray

That's very honorable dude, but she's a lady - Stevie Ray called his guitars "her, she" when he referred to them - you gotta have a woman's name! Just IMO though.

I named my beautiful Strat Mon Sherrie, she is very sexy and has curves like a woman. I taught this name would suit her fine. BTW she screams when I play with her

I did at first, then I changed my mind. Now I call my MIM strat "Blueboy" because it's blue, my American Deluxe Strat "Silver and Black" because that's the color, and my Tele "Tele" because......well.......it is.

I've only done that so that I can refer to a guitar when I'm talking to someone. I don't feel it's the guitar's name.

No, I have never given one a name.

Mostly they get referred to as "another of my guitars."

I've named my electric guitars. Here I'm playing Yume, my Cherryburst Squier Strat.

Image

Yume means dream in Japanese.

My Squier '51 is named Taka which means hawk.
