I ordered mine right after the NAMM 2014. I'm one of the lucky ones to be on the list to get one. I only have one question. In the specs it mentions that it has a "bone" nut. Is it real bone or synthetic (corian)?

It's probably real Bone... the one in my FSR Am. Vtg. Ltd. Ed. '57 is real Bone.

So I'd expect this one is too !

GL w/ the new Axe !

cheers!

I believe you will find that what is referred to as "bone" is actually synthetic bone, as I don't think that real bone has been used for some time. Every once-in-a-while, the specs will actually list synthetic bone, but for the most part it is called bone when it actually isn't.

I'd have a bone to pick with them calling synthetic bone 'bone' if in truth it were not from an animal skeletal source. In maxillofacial surgery, bone can be sourced for replacement procedures by grafting from the patient, by use of cadaver bone which has been sterilized and treated to removed all biological residues, or by the use of synthetic materials which create a matrix which ultimately integrates into the patient's skeletal structure. Hence, if they say it is a bone nut, I would expect it to be the 'real deal' and not akin to synthetic graft material like 'BioPlant' which are beads composed of biocompatible polymers with a calcium hydroxide coating.

There are plenty of untruths like this, and perhaps especially in the music world.

I understand, for example, that ivory can be hard to come by or use legally these days, but the substitute isn't ivory, so don't call it that. Bone, tusk and ivory have specific meanings.
And abalone is one specific mollusc, and regular mussel shell isn't abalone, even when colorful.
Nickel plating isn't chrome unless you also add the chrome layer.
Ernie Ball Cobalt strings aren't made from cobalt, nor do they have cobalt as a main ingredient. Three of the six strings are plain steel, and three of them are wrapped with an iron/cobalt alloy.
And just because a wood is reddish brown doesn't make it rosewood.
Nor does black stain make ebony. FMIC, I look at you here.
