I'm thinking about putting together a partscaster. I'm wondering about pups. I've noticed lately that when I'm using heavy OD and or gain, my N3 Noiseless get a bit murky. The Vintage Noiseless on my Clapton seem to maintain their clarity better. I haven' t tried the Fat 50's yet, and I will, but I wonder if they will maintain clarity like my VN do? Anyone have both and can give me an opinion on how they compare under a bit of gain?

I have N3 Noiseless and Fat 50s. I think the N3 do better with gain. I love both sets of pickups though.

My old Deluxe had the Vintage Noiseless in, and they retained clarity regardless of the EQ or drive level. Granted, they never achieved what you would call saturated overdrive, but lovely sound none the less.

I'm pretty impressed with my Custom Shop Fat 50's, but have no experience with the Vintage Noiseless.
