Right now the Magnatone Classic 15 watter is at the doctors... Not bad considering it has performed untouched for 30+ years... 8)

Well...the new generation has arrived. We'll see how they make out against the competition. With Billy Gibbons on board, that may be a plus.

I'll have to check out the buzz, although I still would be interested in the Phil-X derived evolution of a Magnatone the " Evil Robot "....

Yah! It's a very uncomplicated amp. However, when I was out there in August 2011, I felt uncomfortable cranking the thing. The location was just a very big private office suite. I was the only visitor and it was so quiet I was un-nerved at the idea of winding it up. I don't know if you can find the Evil Robot in stores. Worth investigating that possibility though. Sad that those folks were burglarized.

^^ Thanks... But i'll be ordering from the source...
Burglarized ...?? I've been out of the loop so hadn't heard... I did see that Phil-X is replacing Sambora in Bon Jovi once again for this tour...

Uncomplicated is what I prefer in an amp, I draw the line at reverb and vibrato... Anything else should be peripheral if needed...
Case in point, we were out for Jennifer's running club banquet Saturday night and the band that played had a good selection of tunes from the 60's, 70's, 80's.... But the sound was just seriously lacking... Small venue and only about 30 attendee's... Both guitarist were using 40 watt amps which could not be driven to optimal levels and so they used pedals to make up for that natural distortion.... There is no warmth in that sound... especially in a live setting where coloring that output to match the venue is so critical. They played a couple Stones songs and some Funkadelic tunes... The Oomph was seriously missing..... It was a very dry nasal guitar sound...
I'll just have to sit in next banquet ....

Yah...There was a thread on the Lounge Forum not too long ago. A whole clutch of guitars were lifted.

Checked it out, interesting that nothing that valuable was schlepped, then again unloading 50's guitars is doubly difficult...

Hopefully they'll get the culprits...

Well I just ordered this strap off Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Planet-Waves-Guit ... itar+strap

Nothing fancy, but it seems to be well-reviewed and I like the way it looks.

Also, I picked up a Fender Champion 40 amp. I listened to it (vs. the Mustang) at the store, and to me, it sounded a lot nicer. And I like that it has a dedicated clean channel. I'm sure sooner or later I'll possess the discernment to realize how crappish it really sounds, at least as compared to a nicer tube amp. For now, it'll do nicely.

I've been asked to post pics, but unlike other forums I post in, this one doesn't seem to allow posting pics directly from one's hard drive . . . am I mistaken?

No..as far as pics you need to store them at a Photobucket or similar site, then copy and paste...

I would suggest a Line 6 amp for getting a good clean sound out of your new Strat. I have a Spyder 75w model that can crank out what I consider is a great clean Fender sound.

I am very humbly agreeing with WI KISSfan. I have a Spyder 150w head driving a 2x12 cabinet with vintage EVM 12L speakers (wired for dual inputs). I think a lot of people get hung up on the Line 6 effects that are included. Forget the effects for a second ... I get great tone from the amp with the effects off, period. Cleans, gritty, and heavy tones -- from one side to the other and in between, at low volumes or loud. The tonal palette is massive and hugely usable, with endless (for my purposes anyway) banks of available user-configurable presets. I know it is not the fashionable thing, but it is a ridiculously good rig for the price. Just my personal opinion.

I just bought a bugera V55. Classic sounds super awesome cleans. kinda reminds me of a budget hot rod classic. i play strats exculsively right now. i also recommend schaller strap locks. any trem that is set up right will stay in tune perfect. i have that same bridge on my strat and its floating. never goes out of tune.

I think you're right about the trem; I've had the guitar for a week now, and it's stayed almost perfectly in tune.
