Hi there

Perhaps a weird question. Didn't know where else to post it.

After buying my USA Strat and Tele, I noticed that the plastic part of the Fender monogrammed strap they come with rubs against the body of the guitar near the base end strap pin. Due to this, I got worried about a potential rash developing and decided to attach my straps the other way around. In doing so, the plastic part doesn't make any contact with the body near the upper side pin.

The sucky side of this is that the 'Fender' logos on the strap are upside down when playing.

Am I over reacting? Is there potential for rash using the strap the right way up? I'm guessing Fender wouldn't design a strap which rashes the finish beside the pins?

Overreacting bro, people pay good money for that sort of wear :)

Also chances are you're gonna put a ding it somewhere also the line that's gonna make that strap rub look incignificant.

Are you over reacting? In a word YES. I used one of these on my 82 Reissue Stratocaster and it has a softer Nitro Lacquer finish and it caused no issues. If the finish on your guitar is of a polyurethane type, they are very tuff and I wouldn't worry about it.

IMHO

Thanks for that 'Impulse7' and 'T2Stratman'

Yes, my 2012 Strat and 2013 Tele are both poly finishes.

I just got a bit worried about it when I got my Strat last summer. I was able to hear and feel the plastic part rub so fiercely when I moves that it was almost making a creaking sound. That's when I started using the strap the other way around.

I should have realised this would have been flagged up years ago if it was a rash issue.

Thanks again

Loakky

Next time you wax your guitar, was the plastic on the strap too. Carnuba against carnuba is slick and won't squeak.

I took an old black sock, cut it, made a tube and rolled it in. works great.
