Hi all,

Just treated myself to a fabulous guitar, always wanted one so finally decided to go for it. Got a 2011 USA Deluxe Strat, with the N3 pickups and S1 switching, Ash body with the Tobacco Sunburst finish, maple neck and fb. What a guitar, sounds and looks stunning. Bought it privately from someone who had looked after it v v well, it's mint. That's my question, it's so mint it's still got the original stickers on the scratchplate. Should I leave them on for authenticity sake or is it ok if I remove them? I want to remove them but don't want to do anything to devalue it, any thoughts?

Don't know about devaluing (my guitars are not investments), but you have one problem now: the finish (or pickguard) just may be different color (unfaded...) from the rest of the surfaces under those stickers.

Anyways, I'd peel off those stickers (time cures a lot of the color difference), but: that's just a personal preference. Zippo fluid (the omnicure for guitars) gets rid of glue residue

Are you talking about the plastic film over the pickguard? Fender doesn't usually put stickers directly on the guitar itself. In either case, get rid of the stickers.

(as stated above). The guy you bought it off did not do you any favors by leaving the stickers on It will most certainly have faded everywhere except where the sticker was and in my opinion looks unsightly. 2 solutions: live with it or replace the pickguard.

Keep it original with stickers do not help to have a better value.

IMO stickers are on the plastic film on the pickgard , they'll go off anyway

Get them off that thing! Stickers look tacky.

In the interest of the guitar, take em off. It may very well be too late and you will find they've done their damage unfortunately.

What damage is done. The stickers as stated above are on the plastic covering on the pick guard. Just remove it all and enjoy your guitar. It won't devalue your guitar.

I wasn't sure they were stuck on plastic. I had a sticker on an aluminum pickguard bought off the rack a few years ago and the ghost image of the sticker didn't go away after I removed it. It was a Duo Classic. Not a huge deal, just saying. Maybe "damage" is too strrong a word. Relax. Breathe.

Personally, I wouldn't want my nice guitar to look like Minnie Pearl's straw hat.

i had to back the screws out and take the knobs off to take that crap completely off. It was pulled off by the previous owner but not taken off completely. It is gone now and all is right in the world.

Guys, thanks for all your replies.

The stickers are actually stuck to the plastic film, I hadn't even realised that was still on there! I'm at a studio session this morning, I'll have a look at getting rid of completely and let you know how it ends up.

Loving some of your comments!! :D

I have some Rickenbackers and the people on their forum often ask where they can buy the "Made In USA" sticker on the pick guard. It seems to be of value on these guitars and once removed unobtainable.
