Hello,

I am new to the Lounge, but not fender guitars :) I recently bought a strat off a friend of mine. He wasn't sure on the age of the guitar. He said he thought it was a 94. I did some research on the SN but got no real answer. I am assuming that it is Japanese made. The serial # starts with ST-62. I am not looking to sell it. I just like to know the history of my guitars.. Any help would be great.. Thanks

I believe that the "ST-62" is an MIJ model number not a serial number; there should be a serial number on the back of the neck just above where it bolts onto the body (along with either "Made in Japan" or "Crafted in Japan" depending on the year of the guitar).

the only thing printed on the guitar is ST-62DGF on the heel. I didn't see anything in the pocket or on the plate.

Post pics of the front and back of your headstock, the inside of the neck pocket, the back of the neck where it fits into the pocket and also neck plate.

If you don't know how to post pics, join Photobucket or some other pic hosting site that supports hot-linking. If you have trouble linking your Photobucket pics to this thread just ask and we'll give you some pointers.

And welcome to the forum.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Hold on Stratele52, we don't know that yet. Could be a custom neck plate or modified in some way. We need to wait on the pics...

You are right , sorry . I never see or heard a "funny" Fender serial number like this . Here a ST-62DGF , easy to find if I google before talking......

As suggested may well be a Japanese model the ST could be Stratocaster 62 the model and the DGF possibly the finish.
