Hello to everyone

I have a buy a "Fender Stratocaster" guitar, thinking that it was not original... On the headstock there the logo "Fender" but without serial number. The bridge is really a vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, as well as the Vintage style tuners nickel...

Image

The pickup are those already seen in another treads...

Image

Today, after all shielded compartment, I removed the Neck and I had a surprise...

On bottom of the Neck, written with pencil, perhaps there is a date 10 (16?) 23.91 (41?) and in the heel of the body a sigle: STD - 62 B (b in red color)

Image

What does this mean? Any Idea?? This guitar is original??

P.S: I hope to post as soon as the image of the body and more images

Thanks for any CC

Looks to be a CIJ/MIJ '62 re-issue in Fiesta Red.

Thanks Arjay for fast response :)

But, it's normal that does not have the serial number the guitar? So I can define the guitar a original fender?

A Fender-Japan serial would normally appear on the back of a re-issue neck, just above at the heel end (where the neck inserts into the body's neck pocket). It would consist of two superimposed lines of text, reading "MADE IN JAPAN" or "CRAFTED IN JAPAN" above, with a serial number below it.

Ok... I have notice that up to the mid 90's they would not put anything but only the date (as in my photo) reading in this link : http://www.strat-central.com/ (there are a few examples). At this point, I think that my date is 10-23-1991 and then a CIJ...

The photo of Body (the pickup are CustomShop):

I would like to know more about this guitar, but I think it's impossible...

Thanks again Arjay

There should be a serial number on the back of your neck, formatted thus......

Or perhaps someone has tampered with it. I have three Fender-Japan necks and they're all marked exactly like the photo I posted.

I don't think so, the headstock decal appears to be under the finish so not a US reissue neck, I think maybe someone sanded the back of the neck a bit to remove the MIJ/CIJ and serial number. A picture of the back of the neck would help either eliminate that or give us some extra info.

The body IS a MIJ 62 reissue. The neck is the only apparent mystery...so far.

+1

As well, the string tree is positioned apposed to the A-string tuner post -- correct for an authentic re-issue such as those built by Fuji-Gen. *Most* Corona-built re-issues (and all of the MIM Classic Series guitars) have the tree located a little further "north", towards the ball end of the headstock.

Change "guitars" to "strats" and I'm with you. On my MIM tele, it's down where it's supposed to be.
