I am looking at getting an American classic HSS and i see that there are a choice with ones having an Atomic Humbucker and ones having a Twin Head hum bucker. And ones having Diamondback.

I tried a search on here and found noting to compare the three.

Can anyone give me some pointers?

Thanks

Well, they are probably pretty much the same thing with different catchy names.

There's a dude in Kansas City named Donny Craven on these boards that knows a lot about these buckers and has taken them apart and whatnot while doing guitar tech... I think he is convinced they are all the same thing. He has a post about it somewhere on the forums.

Now I will say that the non-Fender buckers that come on some Strats... like the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, truly are different. But the more standard Fender buckers are just given the "name du jour" that sounds good with the particular name of the guitar model.

What's the humbucker called with the one pickup slanted towards the bridge on one side?

This is not really a humbucker but two slanted noiseless pickups placed side-by-side in a humbucker fashion.

There are two types of humbuckers common for the American Deluxe Series: the DH-1 Atomic and the Twinhead.
Diamondbacks are OEM on the American Standards and were also present on the Floyd Rose Classics a couple of months before their discontinuation in 2003.

Just what your head convinces you! Play both through similar instruments into the same amp at same settings blindfolded, well....
