Nice guitar, for sure. Just make sure you are okay with the small radius neck and having only 21 frets.

+100

Small radius ( 7.25 ) , not easy to play for me as modern radius ( ( 9.5 ) or more like Gibson or PRS

Lightning's the guitar I was actually referencing, thinking they were one and the same.  Thanks for the update on the fine points. One small reitteration. IMHO the '10/56' neck will likely be found to be noticeably chunkier than the neck on that '57 LTD, or the OP's FSR. it would be worth his auditioning an American Vintage '56 if not already done so just for a perspective on the neck, and even better if there's a generic American Standard V-neck Strat on the wall for comparison.

I own an FSR AV '57 Stratocaster... wonderful guitar.

Mine is actually an FSR Am. Vtg. Ltd. Ed. '57 Stratocaster 1 of 46.

What makes it an FSR is the Candy Apple Red color.

What makes mine a Limited Edition (1/46) is that is has a Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish.

The one offered by MF is a regular Nitro finish.

The 'Thin' finish supposedly allows for better resonation. It will also 'relic' more quickly.

Other than that, not sure what difference it makes.

Aside from the Soft V neck ('56) and the True V neck ('57), another difference is the capacitor value on the Neck Tone Pot .1uf vs .2uf (modern) - true Vintage Tone.

A year ago, I wouldn't have been very thrilled w/ the price MF is asking - I got mine for less.

But, given it's scarcity now, and the fact that a month ago I saw one used FSR Ltd. Ed. for sale @ $1799 (and it sold at that price), $1599 isn't that bad.

Great Guitar... you'll be glad if you do.

cheers!

Cool. I own the same guitar (LE02791) and I was interested to see how it differs from the unlimited editions. 1 of 46, eh? I'm kind of shocked it's that rare. I'm almost afraid to play it now.

Your guitar's serial number is 01992 and the "LE" prefix denotes its limited-edition status. The "FSR" abbreviation indicates a Fender Special Run, an uncataloged guitar commissioned by a distributor with no small measure of clout (ie: Sam Ash, Wildwood, Sweetwater, GC, etc).

Thing that always strikes me regarding the neck finishes on Fender VRI's....they are always darker than my old '58 was.

That seems to be the norm for many of the MIA RI guitars as well as the MIM Classic Series models -- the neck tinting is often overdone.

No, never saw an "official article"; just saw the guitars at several different dealers with back that year. I saw these guitars on the sites of Wildwood in Colorado, Willcutt's in Lexington, and Dave's in Wisconsin for sure, plus maybe a few other dealers. These were FSRs made available to all dealers, like those "Rustic Ash" models from last summer. There was also an FSR AVRI '62 in a light blueish color (I've seen it listed as both Tropical Turquoise and Daphne Blue so there might have been two runs of the FSR AVRI '62).

It's not uncommon for a vendor to do an FSR and market it independent of FMIC. Hence the only way one might find out about that is through the vendor's adverts.

Hello,

I just bought a FSR 57 stratocaster car, but i wanted to check if this is a fake or not, because the neck stamps and body stamps seem strange to me, not like anything i personally have seen with fenders.
The seller said its a 2012 fsr limited edition in thin-skin nitro.
But look at the pics.
Can someone help me with this ?

thanks

Absolutely Legit !!

Trust me, I've seen more internal pics of the FSR Ltd. Ed. American Vintage 57 Stratocaster than many Fender employees !

Great Guitar... Congrats !!

Btw, to post your pics choose the IMG button instead of the URL. Just paste the URL after the
