So right now i'm planning to have my 2nd strat in hand by purchasing at musiciansfriend, i can't test it because i'm from Asian country Philippines. I just want to make sure of this thing that it will never disappoint me at the end. Is this an American vintage guitar reissue? Cause it never titled American Vintage. What is the difference of this on a discontinued American Vintage 57 reissue? What are it's pros and cons? Owners or none owners are welcome to give opinions or suggestions, much my appreciation. By the way this is the link http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/ ... ric-guitar

Which is your Strat ?

This FSR 57 Stratocaster have a V neck and 7,25 radius neck . Do you know how you'll feel with ?
This maybe a special run for Musician Friend only ?

Another beast than modern Strat with 9.5 radius

Look a great guitar IMO

so what do you mean by that? yes, i like the feel, cause i already tried it on a American Vintage 56 Reissue.

I am also curious on American Vintage 56 Reissue, is there any super big difference? they have similarity, but the price is too far.

The guitar at Musician's Friend was and "FSR" only for the color - Fender hadn't offered candy apple red on the AVRI '57 Strat since maybe 2000 and they brought it back for this FRS run. Other than that it was the same as any other AVRI '57 Strat from 1998-2012, and this run was made available to all their USA dealers.

The neck is more of a hard V shape and will be thinner in depth than the current AV '56 (which has a fairly large soft V shaped neck), the pickups are different, it comes with the 3-way switch installed and the 5-way switch kit in the case. Both models have the small frets and the 7.25" radius.

The AVRI '57 Strats are very fine guitars, but the feel is different than the current AV '56 models.

I mean, you said 'Another beast than modern Strat with 9.5 radius'? So do you mean is, this is beast than the present modern standard strats? I have an American Standard Strat, that's why i just wanted to see some opinions about this FSR57 strat, i already googled, but there is no such a review of it.

so that means, i'm correct about the slight difference of the 56 and 57? Is the 56 also comes 3 way switch installed?

I'm also inlove with the 56, so if i go with the 56, damn! Another bucks shall be added.

56 American Vintage ri ; Thick soft V neck , 5 ways switch

www.fender.com/series/american-vintage/ ... hell-pink/

57 American Vintage ; V neck , 3 way switch ( 5 way upgrade include )

If you tried AND love 56 , why buy a 57 ??? Buy the 56 .

Difference between V neck and soft thick V ?????? try them before .
IMO sound may be same between 56 and 57 , I'm wrong ?

stratele52 answered your question - the current AV Strat models like the AV '56 do come with the 5-way installed and the 3-way switch kit in the case should you want to change it to the vintage style.

I should also mention that the current AV models have modern tone control wiring - the first tone knob works for the neck pickup and the second tone knob works for both the middle and the bridge pickup. The older models like that FSR AVRI '57 Strat have vintage tone control wiring where the first tone control works for the neck pickup and the second tone control works for the middle pickup only. There is no tone control wired to the bridge pickup on the older models from the factory.

I'm an owner and while I can't offer you a useful comparison, I can tell you that the guitar is very comfortable and enjoyable to play. Sounds great, too. I mean *really* great.

That's because they are great guitars......about as close to the "Leo" paradigm as one can get without either a time machine or prodigious amounts of do-re-mi.

John's pretty much given you the whole egg on the history of that guitar. That '57 FSR is a rare bird. I'm surprised to see that there's still stock lying around unsold. With regard to the current American Vintage '56, you're dealing with what is termed the '10/56' neck profile which is definited chunkier than the stock Fender V-neck, or the neck on the '57 Vintage Hot Rod, or the Clapton. I'm preferential to V-necks but that 10/56 neck does not suit my hand. Forum member Minnesota Strats received that FSR as a gift from his wife, and he's had nothing but pluses. If you're looking for a vintage feel with a bit of the Gilmour look thrown in as an extra, pull the trigger on that one.

I own an FSR AV '57 Stratocaster... wonderful guitar.

Image

Mine is actually an FSR Am. Vtg. Ltd. Ed. '57 Stratocaster 1 of 46.

Image

What makes it an FSR is the Candy Apple Red color.

What makes mine a Limited Edition (1/46) is that is has a Thin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish.

The one offered by MF is a regular Nitro finish.

The 'Thin' finish supposedly allows for better resonation. It will also 'relic' more quickly.

Other than that, not sure what difference it makes.

Aside from the Soft V neck ('56) and the True V neck ('57), another difference is the capacitor value on the Neck Tone Pot .1uf vs .2uf (modern) - true Vintage Tone.

A year ago, I wouldn't have been very thrilled w/ the price MF is asking - I got mine for less.

But, given it's scarcity now, and the fact that a month ago I saw one used FSR Ltd. Ed. for sale @ $1799 (and it sold at that price), $1599 isn't that bad.

Great Guitar... you'll be glad if you do.

cheers!

Yep !! :D

That's why I bought it over an Eric Johnson I was also looking at.

It's actually LE (for Ltd. Ed.) 02639

But LE02639 HAS to have some kinda Mojo to it, so that's why I picked it over the EJ !

cheers!
