Hi, I've got an '89 MIA strat here, and I've got a question regarding the bridge.

I've never used a tremolo arm so now that I've decided to buy one, I'm noticing a really strange misalignment - the hole in the body doesn't match the hole on the bridge. I looked at a friends more recently made strat (50th ani model) and it had the same "issue".

Is this common, and can i still fit a tremolo arm in here? If so, I've been made aware that there are several different sizes for tremolo arms and so which size should i buy then to ensure the correct fit?

Here's a picture, I know its hard to see but I did my best. Thanks. Image

Yep it does happen where the hole for the arm in the block is not central with the hole in the bridge plate.
There should be enough space to fit the arm in though.
If there is not remove the strings and saddles and block springs.
Then very carefully loosen the three screws holding the bridge block and move the block so the two holes line up. :D

Ah, glad to see its not an irreversible problem then! Thanks, do you happen to know what size arm I need for it then?

Yep looks like a standard bridge. The Deluxe has pop in but the standard is screw

There is meant to be a small spring down the hole to provide tension to hold the arm in situ.
Most people lose the spring

Hope that helps :D
