This whole question and answer session not only speaks tomes about the way GC throw stuff up on their walls but about all the themes and variations which come flowing out of the factory. Fat chance that Fender would ever make life easy with a catalog of current FSR's and who they were built for.

Well Doc, I get ya on the catalog........but we do have a database (Filemaker- same method you see me post other specs with). We're still working on getting a serial tracking web thingie up.......but we can still track serial numbers....not sure why the OP is thinking it can't be traced. Sooooo. just for the halibut: Tracks back to the below with a completion date of 6/19/2013:

Right on the money as usual, Sir Rob. Problem with the OP is that he pulled a guitar off the wall and had no idea what he was looking at. THAT, is the province of the seller. I'm sure you're familiar with the way GC tags its guitars. One would really have to be in the know as to what FSR stands for and then what makes it so. I can remember a certain series of MIM Standards in SB3 finish with VN pickups and a 25db midboost. A Clapton sans the neck. UFFF!!

Maybe the OP means a self-service, Rob-out-of-the-loop tracing mechanism.

I have this same model and I love it. It was not at all what I was looking for when I went in, but it plays like it was made for me and it may be my favorite strat ever:). I got mine from GC at a discount because it had been attacked by a Telecaster and had a couple of battle scars. The dings are kind of cool because you can see the gold under the red. I call her Scarlet. Mine was labeled FSR metallic Candy Apple Red HSS. I appreciate the info from Rob, very cool. I knew it looked like a burst and I love that you can see the wood grain through the red.
