Fender revived the old Plus name for two Stratocaster models in their American Deluxe series.

These guitars are completely different animals than their late 1980s ancestors with features like solderless personality cards giving you three distinctive wiring schemes to choose from. Available in 3 "mystic" finishes, in SSS and HSS configurations!

We expect an official announcement from Brad soon, here are two videos showing both the SSS and HSS models in action:

What ever happened to just walking a few feet to your amp and changing the tone feom there, and/or changing he pickup selector and tone control on the guitar.

Such a gimmick, same bucket as the Gibson robot LP. Fender make great guitars when they dont deviate too much from the old reliable 60 year old design, but not a huge amount of innovation that will add to the instrument and stand the teat of time,

You do get that the cards change how the strats are wired, right? It is a passive system that simply changes what the tone controls do. Setting up a guitar to easily switch between common wiring mods is hardly a ton of innovation. It is mostly just making things you can already do easy. Kind of like the solderless bit. You can change pickups but now you can do it easily.

As long as they don't bugger it up lke Gbson did, wiith two incompatible quick-connect plugs, and no telling on the pickup packaging or description whether it's the big one or the small one.

Why not making personality cards with new wiring schemes like TBX/MDX, V6, Greasebucket and many others?

I'm curious to see a personality card with the Clapton mod someday.

This is only good for modern people who loves modern lifestyle. It sounds untraditionally than standards.

Concerning the LP Robot your thinking about the Fender Fishmen Triple Play that was written about in Ultimate Guitars release that included the Deluxe Strat Plus information.

One thing I've had noticed is these guitars sport a vintage-style American Standard bridge with bent steel saddles, with the HSS version lacking off the LSR roller nut and featuring a Twinhead humbucking pickup in place of the DH-1.

Whatever happened to spending the time to actually become a decent musician / guitarist .... :?:
Learning thru experiment how to actually achieve your own personal sound.....

Oh Wait....!! That's just way too much Work...

I equate this with the same respect as Air Guitarists....

Could you link the guitar in question with your rant? I can't see how they are connected.

No Rant... Just personality card theme.....
Let's see..... Vol. / Tone / Tone 5 way ..... Add that to the controls on a Fender amp, or a vintage tube amp, then add your fingers to color the result....

It's just that for all intent and purposes, in a live situation, no one is going to bother switching cards in and out, rather a guitar switch is faster....
I understand this may appeal to the Inspector Gadget, but once again it is more of a gimmick than anything else..... The audience will lose interest and walk out if one spends more than a second fiddling with the guitar.....

Now in a studio situation , this is an entirely different matter...
The reality being that what works in a studio, such as cards or the VG Strat, becomes overly complicated when in live situations.

They only change the wiring. It isn't the sort of thing you would swap out live. You just don't need a soldering iron to change it. I have my guitar setup with a push pull to let me include the bridge pickup whenever I want. I wouldn't want to change that and I'd have been happier if I could have wired it without learning to solder.

You could have bought a pre made kinman harness if wanted to go that way.
