I have been sifting through the dregs of craigslist for a good strat. I have a line on a 2004 Off white / gold pickguard American Deluxe with Maple Neck.

Listed as: American Fender Deluxe Strat W/noiseless P/U and S1 switch. It has 1 scratch on it (on the backside) It's off white with a gold pickgaurd, and a Maple neck. Comes with Hard shell case schaller strap locks, and tremolo bar. it's all original.

It looks like the scratch he mentions is on the back plate. It is listed at $850, do you guys feel this is a decent price? I will have to give it a real once over to make sure there is nothing hinky about. Thoughts?

Strats that year ... black with bevelled gold pickguard and see thru honey blonde V neck with gold pickguard. The V neck model has a lovely tint.
It should have a DZ4 xxxxx serial and the neck plate stamped with the 50th year.
SCN pickups and the S1 as mentioned.
Hope that helps :D

I do. There may even be room to make a few bucks should you ever decide to turn around and sell it.

I am the proud owner of a 2004 Deluxe Cream/Gold strat. We settled on $800.
to be honest when i picked it up and played it i was in love. What a beauty!
as soon as i polish it out (in my obsessive manner that i have) i will put up some pics.
such a wonderful guitar! That N1 switch is new to me and so wicked!

Great news! Yeah, that's exactly why you have to play them before you buy them, eh?

+1

Peer-reviewed photos are the only way to determine whether the guitar and the deal were righteous.
