Good morning to all,
I just bought a Fender Strat American Standard 50th anniversary (2004) in wonderful condition. I read this guitar was only made in 2004 but the Serial Number on the guitar (and on the genuine Fender card) indicates a 2005 serial number reference (Z501…..). The part number is correct (0102004803), and the guitar comes with its tweed deluxe flightcase
Does that means this anniversary model was still made at the beginning of 2005 ?
Many thanks for your help,
Best regards

IMO if the guitar is a 2004 model but Fender finish assembly in , let say january 2005 , serial number would be for a 2005product .

Take the guitar appart and look at the neck and body dates. That is very surprising, but I do know that my 50th Anniversary Am. Series has a 2003 S/N.

You can send a PM to John C if you want further clarification.

The 50th anniversary Strat wasn't made in '04, it was introduced in '04.

Fender decided to make this guitar in a certain quantity.

Bought sufficient parts from suppliers, created sufficient numbers of bodies and necks.

Then assembled the planned number, even if production continued into 2005.

I have a Telebration Empress Telecaster which was part of the Telebration Series celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Telecaster (1951-2011). The 12 models in this series were to be released at approximately monthly intervals throughout the anniversary year, but not to begin until late March 2011.

That means production and release would continue into 2012. My Empress Telecaster was produced on April 27, 2012... Ser. # begins w/ US12, making it a 2012 model of a 2011 release.

cheers!

Hi Monsieurigolo - I also sent this to you in a PM as well.

If I'm remembering correctly the special edition 50th Anniversary models (the American Series, American Deluxe and the CS models) were built until all the orders were filled instead of being built to a specific number (I sort of remember the CS models continuing to come in at dealers in the summer of 2005 since they were all Master Built models). I believe the cut-off for dealers to order these was pretty late in the year - possibly November or even early December. So they would have made a few on into early 2005 to fill those orders placed right before their cut-off.

They are beautiful and sounds amazing. The only thing I don't like it is that the parchment pickguard darkened to the color of light coffee. It looks so ungainly now. I still love the guitar.

Hello Paris,

Good to know,
The person who sold me the guitar changed the original Pickguard for a 3-ply white/black/white one after he bought it. So the original one is still brand new. I wanted to put it again the next time i'll change the strings..hmmm not so sure now you told me that.
