This was the basic set up for the old Stratocaster Plus, and worked perfectly. I've owned a Strat Plus and currently own an Eric Clapton Strat with gold Lace Sensors, and both sound wonderful without the mid-range boost.

I hope this helps.

The TBX controls all the pickups or just the Neck Middle? How should I connect the TBX?

I seem to remember the TBX tone pot was located in the 2nd tone pot position on the Strat Plus and in the Eric Clapton Strat is located in the 1st tone pot position.

I would go online and find a wiring diagram for a Strat Plus first. The Clapton Strat will have the mid-range boost kit as part of the diagram, and believe me, you want as little confussion as possible when looking at a wiring diagram.

Good luck!

On the Plus, Deluxe Plus, Ultra and Jeff Beck signature models the TBX affects the middle/bridge pickups. Neck pickup is hooked into a standard tone pot.

On certain Strats with active electronics the TBX affects the overall signal compensating the lack of highs when the MDX pot is cranked up.

There are exceptions, though: Clapton no longer uses the TBX on his guitars since March 2000. The MDX pot is still present but the TBX has been replaced with a standard tone pot.

Is it possible to install a TBX for the front pickup and a TBX for the Mid and Bridge pickup? I was also thinking of installing a no-load pot for the bridge pickup, and a TBX for the neck and mid pickup.

I didn't know that, how come his signature Strats still come with the TBX if he prefers a standard tone pot? It seems counterintuitive to me because the TBX pot gives you standard tone control functionality (low pass) as well as the additional high pass option.

Those features are specified by old slowhand himself.

Only the EC Standards and Team Built EC Customs sport the TBX.

Masterbuilts (guitars built for the artist) employ a regular tone control.

The TBX was removed for the following reasons:

1. Tone was too muddy.

2. The VNs make the high-end sparkle provided by the high pass filter obsolete.
