Hi

I have a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster and I want to change the knobs to regular Stratocaster knobs. However I removed the current "amp" knobs and noticed the pot shafts are wider than the pots that use the regular knobs. Did I dream that or are the pots different in these 2 guitars? Am I going to have to replace those as well? If so, I would like to replace the volume put with a "faster" pot; one that turns easier. Thank you for your help

You are right , Fender use 2 type of pots ( and more ? ) and knob won't fii.

Some are CTS on American made guitar . Mostly these pots are fine knurled with 24 spline . On guitar made outside USA they might use Alpha ( ? )pot with coarse knurly 18 spline shaft .

Just to name 2 major brand.

I have a Blacktop Strat HH (MIM 2012) and the pots are totally different from those on my standard. On my blacktop the shafts are not splined and the knobs are secured by grub screws.

You will probably have to buy pots to match the knobs you wish to fit.

Hi blickfang. The pots on my standard are 250k with split, splined shafts.

This do not say size or kind of spline

Hi stratele52. The pots on my standard are 250k 3/8" CTS split shaft. I have not checked how many splines are on them.
