I always find Coke has a very slight oily feel to it where Pepsi feels crisp and clean in the mouth. The only Coke I ever liked was the "New Coke" with the blue swish on the label they introduced in the mid 80s after they did their own research and discovered people really did choose Pepsi in blind taste tests. They dropped it after not too long and went back to the old Coke and called it Coke Classic when there was backlash from a fan base that didn't care if Pepsi tasted better, they still wanted their Coke. Kind of like some guitar enthusiasts that way. Don't really care if something is better, just want the old.

My two cents.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I just picked up my first maple neck strat... and I LOVE it!
but I've been wondering this same thing... honestly I prefer the Maple at the moment for the feel.

I have 8 other guitars with Rosewood, though....

Well it's a new year and we haven't yet had one of those "boxers vs briefs" circle-jerks.

I think I'll just pop me a bag of Orville Redenbacher's finest then sit back and enjoy the parade.

After we resolve the maple vs rosewood question we should move on to alder vs ash.

That's after we've established that humbuckers are better than single-coil, and that 12-gauge with a wound G string is the superior string choice.

Hey the old Coke is one of the Universal Constants !

My Dad ran 3M's Int'l. Div. back in the 50s when I was a kid - based in Geneva, it was the time of 3M's Global expansion. I went to schools in 3 different countries and often traveled with my Dad when on break. We went into eastern europe, the middle east, asia, etc.

I remember them still cleaning up WWII rubble in Berlin, Naples, etc. We visited many places without phone service, indoor plumbing or 24-hr. electricity.

But wherever we were, even in the most primitive, undeveloped, dank holes, there were always 3 things you could get - Coke, Kodak Kodachrome and Marlboro cigarettes !

Johnny Walker Black was a distant 4th !

Coke would'a been OK if they'd just added 'New Coke' to the Product Lineup. But to have it supplant the original just threw the Universe out of whack !

cheers!
