I have a 2007 American Standard V-Neck Strat that is my main guitar. I love the guitar, but the sloppiness of the snap-In tremolo arm always annoyed me. I use the trem a lot for the surfy type of music I play, and when playing the trem arm would always be out of reach because there was no tension in the cavity to hold it in place. I looked through the manual, did many online searches, tried teflon tape, etc. Nothing worked.
In the end I figured I figured it came with a spring in the the cavity, and I had lost that spring?

It baffles me why the manual makes no mention of this adjustment, but I figured it out today by seeing a picture of the Deluxe Stratocaster tremolo block in the accessories section of the fender site.

There is a set screw which can be accessed when the trem arm is pushed down towards the pickguard. The guitar comes with the correct allen wrench, and when tweaked a little the tremolo arm magically stays in place.

Ta da. That only took 7 years to figure out!
I thought maybe a forum user with the same issue may see this and correct the issue much faster than I did.

I was the same until I discovered that magic screw. Still, it baffles me why the trem arm on the Deluxes is different to every other model in the range. No plastic tip on the end, it looks like something you'd see on a floyd rose. I actually bought a normal screw-in arm and it actually screws into the hole so I don't use the arm that came with the guitar and now the guitar looks correct.

Thank you!! I thought I needed a spring also and was just getting ready to order a pack of them(I knew I would lose them a lot). In reference to the comment on the trem arm, I like the arm with out the tip, it looks simple and under stated, but we all have different taste!

The spring is the easiest fix.

Keeping track of it?... Well, that's another story...

cheers!

I took the tip off an arm from a MIM strat and it's a decent fit on the pop in arm of my Am Deluxe Strat.
I prefer having a tip on the arm.
