Well, after a quick look at my Strats and a decision made, I routed around online and ordered some new callaham springs and claws.

After installation on both my Plus Deluxes the results appear to be fairly good. I wouldn't necessarily say that they increase sustain but the sustain which was there before appears stronger and more definitive/apparent on both but more so on the Ash bodied one. Removing the back plate appears to create a more 3d effect to the sound but only slightly (I tried the back plate off first before changing the spring setup).

Obviously, the real proof will be the next gig!

Anyone else out there removed a trem-setter and reverted to a normal 5 spring setup (flush bridge as I don't use the whammy bar) and an open back cavity?

Cheers all

Sacha
