Hello, I have just been offered the chance to buy a mint condition 2002 American deluxe hss Floyd Rose strat for £700. I looked for info on the net but cannot find anything. Does anyone know anything about these guitars? It plays very nice and the pickups are great but what is the going rate for one of these and what is a Floyd like to maintain? Thanks in advance

IMO there is no American Deluxe Stratocaster with floyd Rose .

I have many fender Catalogs at home here what I see :

In 2002 the only Stratocaster with floyd Rose is the American Special series and the Standard series . Cheaper than American Deluxe.

I check in 2003 and the call them deluxe series , they remove the word American . They have also highway One with FR tremolo

I dont't know price in your country but in North America this worth not more than $600 IMO
American Deluxe worth more .

Some photos may help , and serial number.

The OP is talking about an American Deluxe HSS with a MINI FLOYD ROSE bridge.

Chromeface ,

You may be right , but Fender name this guitar American Deluxe Fat Strat with Fender Deluxe locking tremolo .

Not Floyd Rose name

One explanation is the OP confused the American Special Floyd Rose Classic with the American Deluxe HSS LT as Fender used the DZ digits to designate both the American Special and Deluxe series at the time (many thanks to John C for this useful information! :) ).

The "Deluxe Locking Tremolo" was a Floyd Rose locking system housed into an American Series bridge assembly.

Both guitars shared the same DH-1 Atomic humbucking pickup.

Yes this is an American Special not a American Deluxe . Bridge pickup ( and pickgard ? ) may not be original if you look on Chromeface photo which is the same as in the Fender 2002 Frontline / catalog .

Sometime catalog did not show all model.

No photos of the back ?
Where is write "made in USA " ?

This guitar has been modded with a chrome-covered humbucker and a replacement pickguard.

It looks great. I'm not liking uncovered humbuckers these days.

Me too, I really don't like uncovered humbuckers for some reason. I was tempted to buy a Blacktop strat and mod it with a Hss configuration but then I saw this. Will have to find out a bit more and let uou all know.
