Well I am a BIG Fender fan. Although I sure can't afford the price of all i would like to own. I am also a luthier. I always wanted a real Walnut bodied Strat. A friend of mine has one and it sounds killer. So anyways I built the body to one (from Walnut of course, 2 piece) I couldn't be happier with it. it definity has custom shop written all over it.
Any one else have a Walnut Strat? i love the tone you get out of walnut.

Right now there is not a signature model that I would buy, however if Fender ever decides to issue a Trevor Rabin Model, I would buy it!
a 62 Hardtail with all the graphics and a hotrail in the Bridge.. hmmm

oh btw I am new here! Hi all! :)

The guy who ought to get a signature Strat who doesn't have one and probably never will is Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac. He plays a Turner Model 1 on stage, but records with a Stratocaster. Some of the guy's guitar work on the solo album "Out of the Cradle" and Fleetwood Mac's "Say You Will" stands up to anything done before. He's using a lot of overdubs and multiple guitars to take things in a totally different direction. It would be very interesting to see what the completely different Buckingham and Fender's custom luthiers would cook up.

him and morello's soul power strat would be nice too.... those are two of today's guitarists who may actually deserve a signature strat

There was definitely a Iron Miden strat, but if it was modelled after any of their guitars, it was Janick's. I remember it being white with white pickguard, covers, and knobs, an SSS layout with a single coil-sized humbucker in the bridge. If you ask me, they should make a Dave Murray sig (black, HSH, Floyd(?), etc.). Adrian played seemingly every brand of guitar, but rarely strats (at least up to when he left the band), so a strat sig makes no sense there. I guess I've seen Janick play nothing but strats, but I personally don't think he deserves a sig either...

Just my $.02
Pat

How about a cutom shop relic of Dave Murrays original black strat that he used on the 1st 6 albums??

it once belonged to Paul Kossoff..so your getting 2 sigs in one!!! 8)

well, yeap... Signature guitars are just marketing tools.
I don't understand why people won't just buy an American standard Stratocaster and modify it the way they want.
that way you get any signature-like guitar you want for less money :P

very true!! thats the great things about strats (fenders)...they are very simple guitars..no big myth..and easy to mod..i think people forgrt that.

buy a mex classic 50's put vintage noiseless pups in and a 25db mid boost kit..TBX...it becomes a clapton strat really!..and you still save £500!!!!

I'd rather see a signature Jag...an affordable, versitile one that overcomes some of the problems with the original.

Why should it bother ANYBODY as to who or how many sig Strats someone gets or has their name on? I mean...if you do not like it, DON'T BUY IT. Should it really bother someone???

I say, the more choice, the better. True...you have to look through all the different specs and pick one model that comes the closest to what you want. That can take some time! But I can't see it being a problem if there is a Tom DeLong or whoever model. Just skip it if you don't like it!

The only time I see it as a problem is IF you can't get what you want. Like someone here said, Strats are so easy to mod that you could put together just about any combo of features you want. Make your own sig model!
