This is alittle strange. Someone on craigslist in pgh has advertised a 59 fender strat for sell for 400 dollars. Of course it's not a 59 strat but this odd.

Oh ye of such little faith!

Of course it's real. And I'm Leo Fender's long-lost nephew.

Please do post the pics. You should get some very good advice as to what to do with it from the member here. One it is confirmed to be a 59 strat.

Please do. If it's one made in 1959 in mint condition, you're talking big money. Even in just "good" condition, $20,000 or more. If mint, much more. And if it's a '59 white Mary Kaye, triple that estimate.
But if it's a '59 Mary Kaye reissue from 1989, the price will be more around $1200.

Pictures will be invaluable. Also, the neck plate on the back of the guitar will have a serial number on it - this should be in the 30000 to 40000 range, no letters. If that's not the case, it's probably not the real deal.

I see so many peoples advertising reissue without saying first it is a RE.

If this post: http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=91246
would have started just one day sooner, perhaps the general forum feedback to this 59-Strat chain would have been just a little more polite...

Fairytales sometimes do come true. There are, still, some vintage Strats hiding in closets. Always give the benefit of the doubt - even though most of the oldies aren't for real. 8)

Where would a person go to sell a vintage fender stratocaster. 1959 model. Mint condition.

I would take it to Mandolin Bros.in Ney York.
