Hi everyone, just after some advise. Looking at buying my first Strat and don't wanna get ripped off.. I got a couple of pics below you can look at. Can anyone tell me if it's a real Strat or copy, also what the round about price should be, the seller has asked for $1000 Australian dollars. He says it is USA 88. Thanks!

It looks clean enough to me.
Contact support with the serial and they'll be able to confirm things WRT body colour etc.

I answer on your other post ;

E8 + 5 digits 1988 or 1989

Real nice Stratocaster .

Just be sure it do not need a fret job , this is very expensive.
A "old "guitar like this one , if played often may need a fret job ,

Price ; not more than $600 in USA or Canada IMO

____

Very nice guitar, looks perfectly legitimate. The plastic volume and tone knobs appear somewhat vibrant against the pickguard and pickup covers . The finish is called Gun Metal Blue, a very attractive color that you could only get around that time.

Looks legit to me; it would be a circa 1988-89 American Standard Strat.

Fender likely won't have info on this one; their consumer relations database only goes back to about 1993 (when they computerized their inventory tracking).

Wow that is clean, its an 88 or 89 in Gun Metal Blue I had this exact Stratocaster.
Its probably one of the best you can get for player wise anyway.
Take good care of it.

It has a universal route and a TBX control.
Its body is very heavy
I do miss mine.

The only thing that makes this guitar better is a set of Fender Locking tuners. They are a direct replacement and only adds about ten mins to a string change.
The pickups and craftmanship are excellent in this vintage.

You have a very beautiful guitar! I'm sure you noticed the three knobs have been replaced, but no big deal, they'll age and blend better. The tremolo cover appears to be new also. PO might have lost the cover and purchased a kit with knobs and cover, however the switch tip was left original.
